2004 ram 5.7 hemi trans fluid

I have a 2004 Dodge ram 5.7 hemi and was wondering if the Castrol transmex ATF/ CTV universal fluid would be good to use in a pan change?

Isn't a 2004 a 3rd generation Ram?

I think that's the incorrect fluid. I would understand the specs for your truck

That is the 48rfe? Doesn't list atf 4 compatible. Most of the time universal means thin, because those transmissions cant spec thick fluid, but a transmission that uses a thick fluid nobody cares about. The gov't is going after universal fluids, as sick as this sounds they actually say it isn't thin enough for where the industry/gov't is going. I'd just use atf4. Usually visc around 7 and universals are usually off that 1 or 2 visc, not a big deal either way.

So just regular ATF4 is what I need? Not synthetic?

all atf4 is synthetic, if it is actually atf 4 on the label it is group 3 synthetic.

I'm not sure about the 48, but there is a thread with great general info on rfe transmission service. Stuff such a as metal threads very desirable. Mopar sump filter important, options on canister filter again if it is the same, that you would need to look up. read the thread, I do believe the good metal threads are still cheap on eBay, look at u&a's link for those. enay seller does sell singles.
