Owned the truck for 3 weeks tomorrow, had it in the shop at day 7 for a multi cylinder misfire and a cylinder 5 misfire code. 60,907 on the clock, certified used vehicle.
They installed new plugs, and replaced broken exhaust manifold bolts on passenger side per TSB
Had the truck back in 2 days and been good, up until this morning. Hit remote start when I was leaving work. Started and ran for about 20 seconds then shut off. I already new it meant a CEL was on. Hopped in truck and CEL was on. Checked code when I got home, multiple cylinder misfire again. Have a bad feeling it's is a bad lifter or lifters and a smoked cam lobe.
Since this is the second time in 14 days and I've only owned the truck for 21 days, should I simply tell them to check a little deeper? Look into the cam and lifters? Is there a TSB or any other document pertaining to the cam/lifter issue and misfire condition? I've done a lot of reading and it seems those who have had the problem, all are around the 60,000-65,000 mile mark.
I love the truck, every option I have wanted right down to the color and I've been searching for quite awhile.
Any recommendations on how to get the service department to look into the issue a bit further than just plugs, as I assume the coil packs all checked out last time.
