So OP cannot produce receipts for oil changes at correct intervals for the 27K miles? Seems like that would seal the deal. Sorry, guess that's obvious.

Always have OC at RAM dealer, bring my own oil & filter
OC date and mileage are recorded on Carfax data base for your warranty protection.
Cost $17 at dealer, well worth it for first 100k miles.
However, if vehicle is NOT operated for long periods of time in wet climate it will sludge up.

I have never heard of a motor sludging up within 5k... and only have 26k on the ticker and never showing signs of sludge or chunky oil... somewhere something doesn't add up to me here...

Exactly.. I don't want to call the OP a liar but wish I knew all the facts cause too much is missing to make a educated guess as to the situation... but either the dealer is full of sh$% as to why oil pressure failed or he isn't being truthfull about the oil, but yet I have also never seen oil sludge in 26k so I kinda believe him since I also have a huge distrust with dealerships.

The problem is we only got one side of the story, his. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt but his reluctance to not even try with FCA customer care tells me he is either a beta type personality or truly knows they got real reasons to deny.

With a $9K possible cost, one would think a little more hell would be raised by most others over this.

Lord knows how I pissed I would be.. But I tend to run a little hot tempered when others attempt to play games with me.

But I also analyse my oil every 5000 miles through schaeffer's oil where I get it.. I have had many dealers try to play the bully game about doing my oil changes and warranty until I tell them I use Schaeffer's oil, then they shut up. But had one service tech still fight me on it until I showed him and his boss the records of not just oil changes but oil tests done every 5k.... they back pedaled very very fast.

But still most dealers I have dealt with will not put it in if I request it or even bring it in, so they do not get my business

Or do you have a really short commute daily . If you drive your truck a lot without getting the oil temp above 200 degrees it doesn't boil off the condensation that naturally occurs , thus the condensation builds up and could cause sludge .

Short trips like a high school student that drives only a couple of miles from home to school at slow speed can cause sludge build up in the sump,
as explained earlier.
This type of driving habit is considered severe duty.

You know I never really thought about this being I have never had trouble before. This is my "grocery getter" so to speak. I would guess alot of the time it only goes 5 to 10 miles per trip. However, I would imagine it goes over 25 mi at least every 2 weeks.

I take the back way to work just about every day ( especially winter time) because it's a longer drive and it gives my oil the opportunity to get above 200°F in an attempt to help burn off the normal condensation build up .
I've been doing this for a litle over a year because last winter when I was dumping my oil catch can( www.oilcatchcan.com ) I noticed more milky Condensation in the catch can than usual ...

12ramhemi I REALLY think there was an underlying issue with that mill already to cause this. I won't dispute that you did your oil changes as described. But to put it in perspective- my daily commute is about 6kms. That's about 4 miles? My F150 did this, my 13 Ram 1500 did this, and my 2500 is doing this. Yes- I warm it up a bit before going, but I have never seen a hint of oil issues in any of them. To see what you did after 26k, that's ridiculous. It seems to me the dealer stopped when they saw the sludge and didn't dig into the CAUSE of it and decided to sweep it under the rug since you did your own maintenance.

I think it's ******** but I can't offer any constructive advice. It just makes me wonder about all of the farmers out there doing their own maintenance since a trip to the city for something as stupid as an oil change makes no sense now running around without warranty.

Had one of those in our '98 Intrepid. To be more precise- we had two of those engines in that Intrepid. When the second started smoking like crazy and the transmission started slipping, off to the trade in gods it went. Worst vehicle we'd ever owned.

I thought they were great looking cars when they first cam out. The design hasn't aged well and they WERE ABSOLUTE ****BOXES.
