Unfortunately with what is expected out of these engines through CAFE this is what happens. They need to squeeze out as much power as possible to make customers happy while squeezing out efficiency while using thin oil through tiny clearances. Ford's F150 is having issues burning oil, dropping valves and if you think Hemi's are loud you should listen to the latest 5.0. Chevy's 5.3 and 6.2 are having similar issues to us, although theirs seems more widespread.
Honestly, and this is why I own this truck, the 5.7 seems like the most reliable V8 choice on the market right now. Every engine is a crapshoot though, at least we're not dealing with CVTs like the Japanese car guys are, I've heard horror stories from them that make our lifters seem like a cakewalk.
