So i was driving thenother day got high motor temp alarm. Coolant was at 260. Shop found 2 pin holes in radiator but did a block test as well and it failed. Everyone ive talked to says to replace because by the time you get done finding and fixing the prices are close enough it is more reliable to just replace.

A buddy is going to put a new radiator in and we will see how it does after that cause worst case im buying a new motor any ways. Any oter ideas??

How many miles on it? just pull the heads and send them out have it checked you probably blew head gaskets and warped them unless you cooked it so bad you cracked a cylinder or something i have seen that before but you have to try really hard:D

If you shut it down immediately after you got the alarm then it should be fine. I've popped a hose a couple times in the years I've been driving and never had a problem since I shut it down quickly and didn't run it again until it was fixed.

it's has 70,000 miles on it. I don't feel mechanically inclined enough to start pulling the motor apart and all the mechanics around here in South Carolina say they want to replace the motor.

I did turn the motor off immediately but for whatever reason it was still over 250 degrees. I had it towed to the shop first but tomorrow will be the first day I can check the oil to make sure it's fine.

A block test, from the guy that did it, they tested the bubbles coming out of the coolant and they were exhaust fumes.

I thought you should idle it down when it gets that hot, quick cooling is not good there. Were you towing? Driving hard?

If you need a new engine no harm in driving this to see if it is gonna die. Try bars stop leak pellets.

Did they pressurize the cooling system, if it holds pressure preferably 15-20 psi you will see the pin holes in the radiator, if you blew a head gasket you will over pressurize the cooling system, you will see your overflow bottle full.
