I messed up the first hole for the sub and didn't want to chance messing the whole thing up by breaking the MDF loose, so I added another piece. The is about 1" in the front and 1/2" in the back areas, but I also have 2 kids in car seats, so I doubt I'll be slamming the sub that hard. If I do, it'll be with the seats up!

I don't know why it would need 2 inches minimum but that does look a little ttight.

Well 2 inches just gives it enough room to move around. Or the minimum could be the max excursion of the sub itself.

Looks pretty darned good to me.
I agree it looks small, but I don't know the specs on the sub either.

Now I need to find the motivation to do it all over again on the other side.

Your setup looks really nice! Do you have an estimate on the volume of the box?

I estimate a .67 cu ft without the subwoofer displacement. With subwoofer installed, I believe it to be about .52 cu ft. The recommended sealed space is .53 cu ft. so I think I'm ok.

I used a (less than perfect) method of figuring the airspace, by calculating the size of cardboard box that I'd need to have .68 cu ft. I filled that box w/packing peanuts, then poured the packing peanuts into the fiberglass mold.

I realize that packing peanuts do not fill every bit of airspace due to their shape, but I think it's a good approximating method.

On that note. I just started the 2nd mold that will fill the driver's side storage area.

Thanks! That is the same wire that I had in my old 2008 Dakota. I ran the wire under the carpet in that truck and hated life during the install and removal. I decided to spend some extra time running the wire this time. I'm much happier with this method. I still ran a couple of small wires along the inside of the truck under the carpet, but those were easier and I used a wire feed tool for that as well.

Second one is also most completed. Need to patch some areas up with fiberglass reenforced bondo. Waiting for carpet, and sub. and I'll be done!

Thanks. I'm actually waiting for the compressor to fill up and the short strand fiberglass/bondo to dry. Then I'll ran the sander over it and it'll be ready for carpet and a sub. The carpet should be delivered tomorrow and the sub is still being put together and I would guess that it'll ship in the next day or two.
