Hey all, is there a way to fully disable ESC without being in 4WD or tapping into the ABS fuse? I have used alfaobd in the past to upgrade to the 7in evic cluster but I don't know/didn't see if there was a ESC disable mode. Thanks in advance!

I used to pull one of the ABS fuses on my '07 Tundra every winter.

The ABS was worse than useless in the snow. I proved to myself many times that I could reduce the stopping distance without the crappy ABS.

Then I applied black electrical tape to the EVIC to cover up the Xmas lights.

Thank you, I'll try this. However is there also a way to bypass it in the bcm or software? I know I can do this on my truck but my dad would also like this mod and I want to keep it simple for him.

Put it on a rocker switch, can't get any simpler then that. Run 2 wires into the interior, with an inline fuse in 1 wire, mount a rocker switch where it's easy to get at,then all he has to do is flip the switch to kill traction control.

I'll do that. My dad and I used to have a 06 Chrysler 300 SRT8 and when you held the traction/esc button, it would fully disable the system. So he wanted to see if we could program something like that into his ram without switches. I am going to put a switch in my ram because I have already modded my truck so idc. But thank you!

That feature is only available on the cars, and is a pain in the ass to use if you're in a panic and trying to get the traction control turned off in a hurry. You have to hold the traction control button for 10 seconds or more to get it to disable the traction control completely, and if you're 1/2 through a mud hole,by the time it turns off, you're stuck. That's where a switch is beneficial,as it's immediate.

How far does my Ram go with disabling the traction control when you hold the button for 10 seconds? IIRC, after selecting 4WD Lock and holding the traction control button, it displays something to the effect of, 'Traction Control Disabled' on the EVIC.

I didn't watch the videos above; maybe it was covered there.

At low speeds in 4 lock it does kill the majority of traction control, but if you're in mud,you usually want enough tire speed to keep the tire lugs fairly clean, and in those conditions it doesn't completely turn off.
If you're chewing up a muddy gumbo clay type gravel road, you want to keep as much tire speed as possible, and that's where being able to kill the traction control with a switch is in your favour ;)
Growing up in Saskatchewan i had lots of occasions where you wanted all the nannies off,or you were stuck , and digging yourself out of mud with a shovel usually doesn't work worth a crap, at least in snow you can dig a path:Big Laugh:

On my '16 2500 Hemi there is no obvious sign of traction control in 4 low. I've had the tires spinning at 30+ MPH (that is what the speedo showed, but doubt I was actually moving more than 10 MPH) in 4 low climbing a muddy hill. There was no signs of any limiters, brake activation, dash lights, etc...
I've tried holding down the ESC off button for a period of time and nothing extra ever happens besides for the initial on and off toggle, meaning if I just push it and release it, or hold it down for 10 seconds, nothing different happens. Honestly haven't played around enough with it in 2wd to see how much traction control is still on even after hitting the off button.
