I just bought a 2016 1500 Crew Cab. I bought Lund Side Step Rails for my truck, I understand the instructions and watched videos on how to install them. Now on the front mounting point for the rails, where the captive bolt goes into the frame, the hole isn't big enough. There's the outline of the big hole, but a piece of metal and a smaller hole inside of it. There's also a nut in the hole next to it where the other captive bolt needs to be. How can i get this to work on my truck. The spots in question are circled in yellow in the pic

I installed steelcraft running boards but the hardware is essentially the same. The single bolt needs to be inserted and rotated so that it stays in while you tighten the lock washer and nut. Weird that your hole isn't big enough.

The double bolts are tricky because you have to insert the hardware in and fish out the bolt to the other hole. You insert the hardware in the bigger hole of course. Put a nut on the lower bolt before letting go of it. I did and it fell inside the frame. It took about 40 mins, ****** knuckles, and a lot of curse words to get it out.

I got a email reply from Lund. The June 2015 to present Ram Trucks have a redesigned rocker panel. They are sending me a adapter kit.
