Hagar1 I feel you brother. I am fighting prostate cancer. The estrogen pills that I take leave me weak as a kitten. Back in the day I would bench press a transfer case in to position while my buddy would put it bolts in. Now I can only work on my truck for a couple of hours and I am done.
I am very sorry to see that, it is sad how our bodies break, sometimes in the worst ways. My best hopes and wishes for beating that nasty ailment.
I guess as we get older, we all start breaking in different ways. For myself, 2 heart attacks and a couple of years later, a cardiac arrest. One bout of skin cancer.

Yeah getting old sucks. Things that are supposed be dry start to leak. Things that are supposed get hard don’t. Things that are supposed to be soft hardened. Pump stars to wear out filters plug up. Kids are idiots every one that knows me says that I’m a grumpy old b;)(? But if they have a problem who do they call. DAD

What’s the old joke if I knew I was going to live this long I would’ve taken better care of myself
I guess I can identify with that, I spent about the first 65 years of my life sometimes trying to see how close to the edge that I could get. Walked away from more than one car accident, never one my fault. Walked away from taking out a hydro wire with a cessna 152. Now, for the last 11 years, I'm trying to be a bit more cautious. So far, it seems to be working :)

The late 70-80 where hard alcohol drugs fasrt cars and motorcycles. It’s amazing im still on the shiny side of dirt. Now I live in the country and take it easy. There’s still lots to do but I take my time.
Wasn't it surprising sometimes just how much we could pour down our throats? Never tried drugs, they scared the heck out me.
Cigarettes, almost 2 pack a day started when I was about 12 and finally quit around 40 ...... that along with genetics probably contributed to the heart attacks.
Now retired for almost 20 years, but I still work on my vehicles. Certainly can't beat flat rate but if I don't get it done today, hopefully there is a tomorrow.

The fast cars, fast motorcycles and fast women were all popular back in those days...........

Getting older sucks , it is tuff not having the physical capability of my youth.
In my mind I think , no big deal ,just a quick job.
But it can be damn near impossible to accomplish something that was never an issue.
Plus four more days to recover.

Truth! 15 years ago I picked up a bare 383 block by hand and carried it from the back of my Durango and carried it into the garage.

I use a drill Dr 750. There is a learning curve, and some tips and tricks not covered in the manual. And you defintely gotta read the manual a couple times.

A few dozen YouTube videos should cover most of the little hacks that give better results. Like doing split points, adding shims to position the grinding wheel better, etc.

But, since I started using it back around 2018, I use up drill bits untill they about an inch and a half long before they get tossed. Kinda like a #2 pencil, except it takes me a few years to use them up all the way.

Drill Doctor DD750X Electric Drill Bit Sharpener, 3/32-3/4" High-Speed, Portable - Steel, Masonry, Carbide, Cobalt, Tin-Coated Bits, Adjustable Angles https://a.co/d/bT79ivl
I have a DD350x. As you said, definite learning curve. And read directions more than once. After you get the hang of it, no more dull bits.

I liked bench pressing automatic transmissions, well not really but we didn't have a transmission jack.
I'm guessing that is why a lot of us old Techs have all kinds of structural problems in our Golden years. The only thing they forgot to tell about the golden years is that it is the Doctors and Pharmacists making the gold!
