2017 1500 5.7 cranks but doesn't start seems to a fuel issue.

Define "raced"

Revved to redline?

It's normal for the engine rpm to be a little high for the first couple seconds after startup, then idle down.

Unless you had a bunch of raw fuel in the intake from previous cranking attempts, and on initial startup it was overly rich.

If it's not pegged to the rev limiter, give it a few seconds to clear things out and settle down before killing it.
I'd say it went up to around 4 grand and I shut down

No way it's going to 4k rpm with a closed throttle blade. Unless the intake is loose or there is a giant hole somewhere else for air to get in. 4000rpm requires alot of air.

Check the throttle body. Pull the air cleaner tube so you can see the throttle blade next time you try to start it.

And 4k isn't dangerous, unless you leave it running a 4k and then go to bed or something. Give it a few seconds to clear any pooled fuel out of the intake.

To be honest, 4k is probably safer for a hemi than idle, much better cam oiling.:)

So right now it doesn't start again. What I'm going to try and do is pull wire off a different injector plug the light in and see if it starts. If it does start then it's some kind of wiring problem or a computer issue. Right?

It would be worth looking into to confirm, but yeah.

Try other injectors, then try #2 again.

While that is possible, I'm not sure how it could be the PCM

More likely is that there's something in the wiring, and the wiggling and movement of you leaning on stuff, unplugging and pulling the harness changed something in an intermittent short.

If the PCM was internally shorted, unplugging an injector wouldn't change anything.

Inspect anything you touched or applied force to, while messing with injector 2

Especially if you was using the tipm or something as an armrest.

Have someone crank it while you grab wires and wiggle it.

Okay here's what happened I'm a knucklehead! When I unplug the light and went to start it and it didn't start. I forgot to reconnect the wire to injector on the number two cylinder. That's why it didn't start. I just went out checked the ohms on the number two it was 12.1 check the ohms on number 5 it was 12.1. plug the wires back in the truck started but revving very high about 38 00. Shut it down. Going to run a scan and see if anything came up since it started up.
One other thing while I was waiting for the fuel pressure gauge to arrive and the test light I took the two wire harnesses off the computer sprayed contact cleaner in there let it dry up and plug them back in.

One other thing when I put the fuel pressure gauge on it had 61 lb when I put the ignition in the run position. After that I went back and turned it off and when I came back the pressure gauge was slowly losing pressure could it be a leaky injector? Maybe that's what the high revs are all about? It went down to about 59 and was very slowly moving downward.

Absolutely, clean and dry.

Using contact cleaners gives me the willys, I got some years ago that was a bad mix and it ended up harming plastics.

Use caution, and make triple sure they're dry.

Yes it's that for almost an hour before I connected them and there was nothing in there. But basically that's the only thing I did and it started. I didn't do anything else except wait for the two tools that I ordered from Amazon the fuel pressure gauge and the lights.

Pretty easy to clean and check your injectors at home. There's a video in the first post that's basically a carbon copy of how i clean and check injectors

While you're at it,it probably would be a good idea to check the torque on the intake manifold bolts.

Man I tried to read all these but I didn’t. Try starting your truck with your foot just slightly on the gas pedal. This will open your throttle plate and allow air into the engine. If it starts and runs, your idle air control valve (or whatever they call it now) is probably coked up and needs to be cleaned and/or replaced. The IACV meters the amount of air going into the engine at idle (only). Giving it a little press on the gas pedal bypasses the IACV.

These trucks havn't had an IAC solenoid since the 2004 year model.

The move from cable throttle control to a stepper motor rendered the IAC obsolete, as the stepper motor can adjust the blade to any position needed, rather than the cable control, which required a separate air channel with the IAC to control air through it.

No IAC on these, and there hasn't been for a long time.

That’s what I get for being an old timer. My 05 had a crank no start until I pushed the gas pedal. I removed the throttle body and cleaned everything. I guess it was the stepper motor I cleaned too.
Thank you for the clarification.

@Kanemd I took the hose off of that earlier and tried to blow through it it's closed. I don't know if that's the test but that's what I did it wasn't open. I have a spare one brand new
