2018 Ram 1500 UConnect Touchscreen ‘melting’

Hello - Hoping to get some help! Our 2018 Ram 1500 had ~45K miles our UConnect screen looks like it is melting behind the touchscreen. It is affecting the way the radio works as well as the navigation. Has anyone been able to get their dealer to repair this or is there a recall on this? It apppears this is a known issue that Ram should own up to. Apart from the sealer has anyone replaced the screen?

It sounds like you are experiencing touch screen delamination. The screen and the radio are only covered under the 3/36 Basic Warranty and any radio or electronics would only be covered under a Mopar extended service contract or even an aftermarket warranty like the GE Warranty.

It stinks to have issues after the 3/36 Basic Warranty expires but those are the joys of vehicle ownership. Do some research on here and around the web and you will find some good info about screen replacements.

Screen is delaminating, was a big issue with the 2018's. You can replace the screen if you are handy with working on electronics, just google it.

You might try sending a PM to RamCares on this forum, you may be able to get some goodwill. I have a 2018 2500 and had the same issue a couple years back.

RamCares opened a case and and passed it off to the Uconnect team, I managed to get it replaced at no cost. They know these screens are defective.

You have nothing to lose by trying….

If you run out of the other options, here's some Diy info...

Get a new (LA084X01 SL03, one I've used from OeAutoTronics) Screen/Digitizer assembly (definitely not an SL01 version… SL02 maybe) ~ $200 -$300 and replace it yourself…. Or send it off to United Radio, next to the Panasonic plant (Peachtree GA) or NavRepair (FL)
