I have a 2023 Ram 1500 Laramie 5.7 Etorque and the check engine light came on taking my kid to bus stop this morning. It did not sound or seem to be riding correctly. Came home and ran a code check and it came back to p0300 and po307 codes. Engine misfiring. I scheduled appointment at dealer and can't get in till this Friday. I use 89 octane all the time and was just wondering if anyone has or had a similar issue. Have 35K miles and no issues thus far.

Just an update here. I initially thought it may be a bad coil but in actuality it is lifter failure at 35K miles. I am a little taken back that this issue has been caused at 35K. I hope this doesn't cause more issues in the future but I am skeptical in regards to the volume of other owners that have had the same issue. Fingers crossed and I will be without my truck for probably 2 weeks as some parts are out of stock at my dealer. Taking my son on his first hunting trip in PA on the 22nd and hope it is ready by then.

How many hours is on your ram. Was it idled excessively?

Dealer was able to get parts much quicker than anticipated. Just picked up truck and dealer replaced lifters, head gaskets, valve cover gaskets, and intake manifold gasket. They found pins to be stuck and causing the lifter to be stuck. In regards to a lot of idling the hours are 196 with a total of 1094 hours. That is around 18 percent so I don't think that is too bad. Running great now, hope it lasts. Tech Tim at freehold Ram is awesome.

Since my lifter's were replaced, my gas mileage is significantly less around 12.4 MPG. My habits have not changed and I am probably driving easier since the replacement. Any ideas?

That doesn't sound good, you should get significantly better than 12.4 mpg, plus the hand-calculated is usually 1-2 mpg lower than the evic display.

Might be worth having them take a look, IMO.

My 2015 with 205k miles (cam and lifters + 4k miles ago) still gets 16-17 with mostly in-town driving.

18% is fairly high idle, mine is ~9%. You are up north, so that's understandable.

@kirbylsu curious about your oil/filter change frequency.

On the mileage, do you ever use Techron or another good fuel system/injector cleaner? I’ve started doing that at each oil change (5k mile interval, 37k total on it). Also, some suggest changing the fluids in xfer case, front and rear diffs to get some improvement, even though the mileage is low, especially if you tow or have some hard duty. That is only going to be good for 1-2 mpg, however.
