it's always good to know tips on basic maintenance

Just drive it till it screws up and fix it. Dirty little secret about the diesel 2500 rams is that a whole lot of the work they might need is extremely simple, even the exhaust system. The on board diagnostics is very good on them. With the internet and a good code reader, nothing is beyond the shade tree mechanic anymore.

It seems to me like the people who worry the most about it have the most problems. The fleets and guys who run hotshot, idling the truck for hours upon hours, using the cheapest fuels and consumables, get great life from them.

I rarely advocate buying a diesel but since you've already got one, enjoy the perks of having it. Just drive it and enjoy the power.

Thanks, when I got the diesel I thought hey now I got a real truck?! Every truck I've owned suits my needs, but this one can do it effortlessly so.. it's nice.
It's no big deal although I got a nice truck and I like to keep it if possible. I'm going to change all the filters because it's just common maintenance, but I am on the fence line about the additive.

Skip the additives. They don't do any good unless you're getting off-spec fuel, which is very unlikely.

Now filter maintenance is a different story. Diligent fuel, air, and CCV filter changes with OEM stuff is how you get long life outta these things. Fuel filters in particular are extremely important, followed by air, followed by CCV, and lube oil in a distant 4th place.

If you never bothered to research everything on past vehicles, why are you doing so now? Just drive the damn thing and that's it. No need for special additives. No need to alter your drives in an attempt to balance your idle:drive time. No need to obsess over youtube videos.
Upkeep is normally very close to a gas truck. Perform scheduled maintenance as outlined in your owner's manual, and that's about it.

I just ran a dose of Extreme Diesel additive in my 2022 Ram at 15k miles. I am watching the mileage increase slightly around 6-7%. The stuff is recommended around every 6000 miles. It definitely is paying for itself.
