My hats off to you Ken,you did all the hard work for him,but it doesn't seem to have sunk in .I addressed that In the first paragraph of post #8.
Ram/Mopar sucks, really really bad about keeping track of parts interchangeability between years/models/engines.
Specifically anecdotal but first hand info. My electronic power steering rack **** the bed. ALL of the Mopar parts retailers said the part# that fits my truck was discontinued permanently. unavailable.
I called several dealerships and they all said that it couldn't be replaced. Rairdon Dodge in Bellingham suggested I part it out and sell it, and they'd give me a "great deal" on a new truck!
BUT, O'Reilly Auto parts showed their unavailable, discontinued, remanufactured Dorman rack as fitting ALL Rams from 2013 up to the 2019 and all the newer Ram classic DS models. I called O'Reilly up to regional manager level, but they said th couldn't get them anymore, period!
Do, I took a chance and spent 2000$ on a new one from Mopar parts giant.com, that the website said "doesn't fit your truck".
It went in plug-n-play and had been working perfectly for 5 months so far. My trucks computer recognized it instantly and initiated it automatically.
I'm waiting to see his excuse ,as it should be entertaining
