So quick question:

I’m driving a stock 2017 Ram 1500 Tradesman. I want to lift it however I don’t know what size I want to go to. I want to do a 6in lift but I’ve heard that those wear and tear on your truck a lot faster than a 4in. Does anybody know how much more a 6in wears your truck? Is the 6in lift worth it? Or should I just stick with 4in? I plan on putting 20x10 wheels on 33s when I do lift. Just in case that was needed info.

If you are only going to do 33's go with the 4". It will look silly with a 6". But the wear and tear isnt a factor either way with the right lift because stock geometry will stay the same. Now if you go with the 6" get at least 35" tires.

Is there anything else important I should know before lifting the truck? This is the first vehicle I’ve ever modded so I’d like to know everything I can before going into it and possibly making a very expensive mistake.

A quality lift kit will not put excessive wear and tear on any components as it will be properly built to alleviate any major concerns.

My advice is to go as big as you are considering. I have had more customers go from small lift to a bigger lift. Its very rare to see someone go smaller. If you are considering 6" just go for it and do it once. Just be sure you go quality.

let us know if we can help.

Take into account how you will use the truck as well. As I said you want a quality lift kit but if you plan to off road it my pay to look into even better options. Most lift kits will only offer lift and not perform any better where a kit like Fabtech that offers dirt logic coil overs along with it will give you lift and perform much better off road.

Feel free to message me and we can get you set up with something that will fit your needs/wants and budget.

Would Rough Country be considered good quality? I forgot to mention that my truck is 2WD because I know that matters for certain lift kits. And would the extra weight from the big wheels and stuff effect it extremely?

I have a rough country 6" on my 4x4. It's been great so far. Everything look quality.

I'm kind of in the same situation. I need to keep the truck under 83" total height because I like in the upper midwest and I WON'T PARK OUTSIDE so the truck has to fit in the garage. I'm very close if I take the body lift off and set the bils back to zero then add my 6" lift. On the other hand, I could fit comfortably with a 4" lift but I'm also riding on 35s. I don't want to look stuffed ( I do that on my own)

@joeygster has a nice look on his truck. It's a 4" kit, and he fits under the garage restriction. I want to knock the bils back down so I get a better ride. WI roads suck

Also keep in mind, that depending on what tires you go with, a 33 may not actually measure 33" and a 35 may not actually be 35. You will hear some people call them true 35's. My tires are 35-12.50's but don't measure anywhere close to that. More like 33-1/2. So if you decide on 6" lift I would do 35's, but if you get 33's make sure they are close to a 33" actual measurement.

my 35s are 33.75 under weight of the truck. that's what I had to set the speedo calibration to when I put the new tires on. Those are Falken Wildpeaks

And I've had 4"on my part truck and wish I had 6"but I wouldn't go higher than 6" get front stabilizers if you go 6

Disagree 33 look fine with 6, yes 35 look better but 33 are perfect. Compare pics. Black rims 33, red 357eb65b6195772a54e4ae05cd37b2ff48.jpg598857ca59e80af5392706d9479e7aab.jpg

We shall have to agree to disagree. The 33's leave to much open space in the wheel wells for my taste. I like it to look beefy.
