This would be good, since it is a Viper trans.

It's better then the pistol grip, lol. If you watch video's of any of the old 4 speed masters like Bill Jenkins / Ronny Sox etc.,they all used a t-handle shifter,it's the easiest handle to make power shifts with ;)

This is the question and response I got to my email to AlfaOBD about whether their system could configure a manual trans.

"I have a 2011 Ram truck with an automatic transmission. I am considering swapping a manual transmission from a Dodge Challenger. Will the AlfaOBD system allow the needed computer changes to make systems compatible with the manual transmission in the Ram?
IE; Telling the truck it now has a manual transmission."

Can someone translate?

I know this might be different on your truck but I found this in AlfaOBD listed under My2019 PowerNet/VehConfig 7/Transmission Equipped

Thank you for that. I just talked to the local auto electronics "experts", and they said I would need a computer from a truck with a manual trans (used are over $500) and they would need to reset the vin to mine for about $200. They said they can reflash but only to Dodge oem specs for my vin.
Basically, I don't know if my computer has manual trans programing in it.
I guess it's worth getting AlfaObd for all it costs and see if I can make it work.

Yeah, turned out the V-10 bell was different than the Hemi. I put the auto back in.

This is an older thread but I'm just now seeing it.

Yea, all the Hemi's all use the same small block dodge bell housing that's been around for decades.
V10 truck is the same bell as Cummins
V10 Viper is unique bell housing
(At least that's what I hear on the V10 stuff. I haven't played with them personally)

You should be able to run the bell from any manual challenger with the T56, TR6060, T56 Magnum.

I did a T56 swap to my Dakota and helped design the custom flywheel required to fit inside a quicktime adapter bell yet still have the crank sensor windows for the EFI. You could go quicktime route or junkyard cast aluminum bell from the LX cars.

Flyin Ryan may be able to flash your PCM and give you performance increase at the same time. He has done quite a few Dakota R/Ts that have been manual swapped. My truck was a factory 5.2 5-spd so I didn't need that, however I do have his tuning as my 5.9 is a stock bottom end build putting out around 425hp.

I used a B-body pistol grip with a front mount conversion on my T56. That put the shifter almost exactly where the stock one was from the NV3500, and I could retain all my factory floor console parts. I hear the TR6060 has these parts already there and you just need the shifter itself. I actually like the pistol grip and have no problem shifting it fast/hard. If you keep the stock rear shift location of the viper trans, you could likely use an E-body shifter

I don't think you can use the Challenger bell, it puts the starter on the right side and there is very limited room there for it due to the motor/trans shifted to the right in the trucks. Just measuring around the auto bell says it won't fit, unless the starter is somehow pulled in towards the block on them.
Honestly, I think the truck would be way more fun to drive with a manual, I'd even be happy a 5 speed.

Good point. Forgot about the passenger side mounted starter.

Sounds like a quicktime bell with a 10.5" clutch is the way to go! I've got a 392 for my Cuda, and that's the way I'm going. Quicktime, 10.5" clutch, and a TKX 5-spd.
