Jimmy,
Did you every try that 2019/20 5th gen dual zone 8.4 bezel with the 5th gen radio setup in your truck? How did it work if you did?

I may able to get you a 2018 UAS loaner radio for testing if needed to recheck for surround view.

M² Mods.

I did have the 5th gen bezel running with the 5th gen radio on my truck, and everything worked for the HVAC controls, hazard switch, and radio controls. I don’t have heated seats, so I don’t know if the seats and wheel button would have worked. They did not light up when I pressed them, either.
If this surround view ends up working, I will take you up on the UAS loaner. That would save someone else who might want to try with it, but not want to risk buying everything to find out it’s not supported.

So is the thinking on this that the CVPM takes the video output from the 4 cameras and digitally stitches into the surround view which is then output to a single connector on the radio?

Yup, that’s exactly what it does.

Do you by chance have a picture of the screen fully installed into the gen4 center stack? Curious to see how it looks with the gen4 bezel.

Out of curiosity were you able to get SiriusXM or Guardian working with the radio? Trying to weigh what I would gain / lose on the retrofit.

Guardian- no. They won’t allow it because my truck was built with the 5” radio. I’m not sure how it works for someone who already has guardian, then swaps in a radio, if they’d transfer it. The radio currently has the sat radio, travel link, and traffic plus subscriptions as it came to me, but I’d imagine in a few days they’ll cancel them (at least, that’s how it happened when I installed the UAQ I had).

I actually use UConnect access quite a bit, mostly to start the truck at the airport and also to send maps. Nice to have features but not the end of the world to lose either.

I will be following this one along because I already started looking for the parts, too. Passively at the moment but definitely something I am considering adding.

One thing to note, the UAQ radio also has the "red" fakra input connector from the CVPM. The UAQ radio also shows the "Surround View" button in the Controls section when the CVPM is activated in the BCM so it may be possible to get it working with the UAQ radio but maybe not with all the camera angle controls that the UAV radio will have.

Also, if I did this on the 1500, I would need to plug it in downstream of the module I needed to make for the blind spot monitoring to work. I would guess the CVPM will also have vehicle line mismatch issues on the DS 1500s.

I have a 2016 2500 with a 2018 UAQ installed. I connected to the 2017 BCM in Alpha. How did you get the "Surround View" button to show up on your UAQ? I activated Veh Config 7 - Full Central Vision Processing and Cabin Net - CVPM Central vision processing.

Give it a while. It should eventually show up in “controls”.

The Surround View finally showed up on my UAQ. The red fakra connector does not appear to be a standard composite video input on the UAQ. I put a camera on there but still got the blue screen. The camera became quite hot. It seems this connector is putting out +5 volts DC.

So I have one or two of these seems like a lot to get right as I just have the screen and the main system part, are they worth selling or holding out until someone makes the kit?

We are still working on trying to nail down the settings in the BCM to make all this work. If you decide to sell, let me know, I am on the hunt for the parts.
