The Lilboy will be boarderline I bet. You have a 50/50 shot of it working or your PCM accepting it.

I agree, if the 03 idle can't be adjusted it is best to go with what has been proven to work.

Its all in what you do with your truck. A trq cam is great for the streets and normal driving but wont have top end like the hp cams for the tracks. There have been alot of guys running Comp 260s with no issues on an 03 which will have more trg then the 6.1. I also agree with you that the 6.1 is alot of bang for the buck though, and often over looked because everyone just looks at track times and not over all impression of the cam.

Red is a street truck so being well mannered is important. Frist I have to get my current PCM sorted out and my SC/PSC1 installed. As noted in the 03 thread I'm trying to raise the idle. And basically how these mods work out will help me determine the cam I'll use.

look at me. mine was supposed to work with sc and we all know that didnt happen
Nick, I followed your install thread and still feel there are other issues involved.

I still wonder if your cam is bigger Nick and labeled wrong, or a diff LSA then advertised.

I agree, It has a feel of a cam with a little tighter lsa than advertised. Or could be something with the sensitivety of the MAP sensor.

:) Kenneth, as I said before I know a Guy that sold his Truck cause the Comp 260 on SC canned tune would stall 50% of the time at the lights in gear unless the A/C was turned on. With what you said I have reason to believe that not all Trucks will re-act the same.
Maybe the Diablo, and Comp 260 in an 03 will work (but thats not gonna happen with Ol'Red). I have also heard that some of the earlier 6.1 Cams would also stall on occasion, but mine was the AC version which somehow is said to be the better one, and I had no issues with CELs or stalling.

It's all trial and error, this thread is offering up some good discussion! :waytogo:

Nick, that being the point, I'm not sure all the issues are gone. IMO, the Sidewinder should have idled without the tune with a 212/212 dur and 114 lsa. Anyway your running and that's what counts.

Oops maybe not, there is discussion, Yippee! But seriously, never thought of the cycle heat theory, but makes sense. When you do this stuff alone like me it pays to be safe, besides there is an awefull clackin going on for at least the first 10 minutes! More on the 6.1 install than the Crazy Spartan, cause thats when I put new pushrods (even soaked em in Oil first but not sure if that helped).

Well to add to your tuning, I know my truck is not acting like the "normal" trucks with the tune for my 268. Been told a couple times that its not acting like "normal" trucks with the idle being off and the slight surging. So I am a firm believer that eventhough two people can have identical trucks with identical mods and identical tunes that one can act up while the other one runs fine.

Speaking of which I need to go do some logs and general maintenance on it sometime before Sunday.
