I wish I was kidding when I tell you this is how the dealer returned my truck to me to drive for the next 5 days or so until the new antenna comes in. This is a 5 minute rebuild that my service advisor couldn't get approved due to overtime.

@ramcares I'm trying my best to be patient. I really am. But, how can a manager feel sending this out on the road (for possibly 5 days) is better than 5 minutes of overtime?

Hello KahneFan,

Can you send us a direct message with your VIN? I don't believe you included the dealers name so please include this as well.

ramcares,

This is unacceptable service from a dealership. I would expect you would send these photos to all dealerships nationwide as an example of what NOT to do.

@Khanefan I was talking to a local mechanic here in Fredericksburg about crappy ram dealers. He recommended to me Maxwel in Austin. Still as he and all of us know it’s a factory service. It he has heard good things about them. Don’t know if you’ve tried them yet or not

Maxwell has a pretty good reputation here in Austin. The service dept at Sames here in Bastrop is pretty good---some good techs--some not so good. Sales dept sucks.

Maxwell has the best reviews on Google. They're just a ways from me. Ancira is a ways from my, but South Austin --> North San Antonio is actually a less painful drive than South Austin --> North Austin.

Update: Ancira (CE light) just called and said they found a small vacuum leak of some sort. They will be repairing that at no charge. They are trying to see if they can repair my XM so I don't have to go back to South Point. However, since South Point replaced my stereo and was the dealer who started the work on my XM issue, I might have to take it back to them to finish it still. Ancira will have my truck until Monday (thankfully they provide a comfortable loaner). Between now and then he is trying his best to find a way for them to complete the service on my XM so I don't have to return to South Point.

As of this posting, I have not heard from @ramcares outside of this thread. Not to say they aren't possibly doing anything, I just haven't heard anything.

Side note unrelated, my buddy is hearing noises from the rear end of his 2016 Hellcat. He might have to take it to San Marcos to get the rear end replaced - we'll see how that goes.

Well dang. Look at them doing. A little work. Let’s hope that fixed it. Keep us posted

It is not super uncommon for Hellcats to have rear differential issues. The rear diff mounts are made of rubber and a lot of hard launches can wear them out and that is bad. A lot of guys put on a differential brace. Could be his issue. Though if he doesn't drive the car too hard it probably isnt.

Then there are some who have beat the car to a pulp and have had no issues, so who knows.

Eh, you're speaking foreign to me. I already had my man-card revoked on another thread here, so you can't take that from me anymore :D

I'll pass this along to him. He's very much a gear head (if you will) and he'll know what you're saying.

I know it’s a drive but i recommend Nyle Maxwell at 183 and 620. I’ve bought my last 2 rams and where I’m about to buy a Jeep. Ive only had 1 problem where they put a small dent in my old truck and they fixed it up no questions asked. Besides free oil changes that’s the only service I’ve had them do.

Maxwell is the only dealership I’ve taken my Ram to (just once for the cruise control recall). They had me out in 20 minutes on a Saturday morning with great customer service. I bought mine used from a small private used dealership, so it’s been the only Dodge/Ram interaction I’ve had so far. I’ll be going there with any future issues. I’d recommend them as well.

What is scary is that dealerships might actually need to see this pics to realize they shouldn't do this.

Common sense should pretty much tell anyone you shouldn't do this.

I have to chime in. So sorry this was allowed to happen. To me it is fkn unbelievable that a sales/service oriented company allowed that truck to leave the premises in that condition!! Not only was it a safety issue, it is unbelievably unprofessional!! I have seen employees in my profession (electrical), terminated for alot less. Although termination does not fix the problem, it makes sure it wont happen again at least with that employee.
Common sense obviously doesn't apply at that service department and I am shocked that some advice is to share the pics to all FCA service depts for what NOT to do!! REALLY, THEY DONT KNOW THATS NOT RIGHT???
My truck is in the shop as I write this and I'm nervous as hell.
Hopefully this is an isolated incident ant the resolution will be favorable to the OP but personally I would NEVER go back there.
Yelp the hell out of them

As outrageous as this is, it happened. I asked my service manager to take a look at the pics the member posted. He was stunned. "Our owner would have fired every body who touched or handled that truck,,,,right after he fired me first" My heart goes out to this member. A Brand experience he will never forget. But in the real world we live in today, some owners tolerate a 32% satisfaction review on internet sites. The only way this ever changes, is by each customers voting with their feet. Stay out. Stop buying from them. Post their experience reviews.

There are still plenty of good dealerships out there, or at least acceptable. The OP's is bottom of the barrel. Certainly the service department.

My local dealers are a little frustrating. I have a check engine light I've had to take in twice to a dealer over an hour away (where I purchased the truck). I see the code is STILL coming on, so I'll soon be taking my truck for a 3rd visit for the same issue - EVAP code of some sort, no it's not a bad gas cap. Luckily that dealer gives me a loaner, but it's still about a 3 hour round trip each time.

Then, my U-Connect and XM stopped working on my new (new to me) truck, so I took it to a more local dealer (still 30 minutes from home due to terrible traffic to get there). When I first dropped it off I suggested that I felt it was a bad antenna... they did an update to the software and gave me my truck back telling me it was simply a software issue. I waited 24 hours (in case the system needed to refresh). Nope, still doesn't work.

So, I took it to them a second time where my service advisor greeted me in the service drive with "Oh, thanks for driving all the way here, but I've learned they actually ordered you a new radio on your last trip here and no one told me, so you'll need to bring it back when the radio comes in." (so, when I picked it up the first time, it wasn't actually even "ready").

Here we go with, trip number 3 - which again I mentioned I felt it was actually a bad antenna and not the radio, but they installed a new radio. I go and pick up the truck and as I pull out I check the XM - STILL DOESN'T WORK! But, I gave it 24 hours. Well hey look, U-Connect works now... but XM is still a no go.

I dropped it off today for drop number 4 and my 3rd time to suggest it may be a bad antenna. I spoke with my service advisor just now (after they've had my truck for 2 days now) and... what do you know... it's a bad antenna - which of course they don't have in stock, so they have to order it and I'll have to make trip #5 to fix what I suggested to them it was on trip #1. The XM people have been calling me for 3 weeks asking me how I'm liking my XM. :(

Why did you take your truck an hour away for problem #1 with the check engine light? Well, you see the problem I have listed above with making 5 trips (and 10+ hours fighting traffic) now to fix what I suggested on my first trip. And, I've had struggles with that dealer previously. So, I tried another semi-local dealer with a couple of my work trucks. Each time it took 3+ trips to fix issues on my work trucks. So, I took my latest check engine light over to another city in hopes that maybe... just maybe... they'd have a service department that can actually fix something on my first try.... nope.

Sorry for the vent session, I just don't know what to do when I can't find a local dealer to help with warranty issues (in an efficient manner). And, when I purchased my new (new to me) truck, I purchased the Ram 100K extended warranty, which I'm severely questioning myself as to why in the world I subjected myself to a Ram warranty instead of an after market warranty that I could take to ANY (certified) mechanic.
So did any of the issues get fixed for good? I know you said dealer found vacuum leak or something.
