Hello everyone, I just picked up a 2014 Ram R/T RCSB and although I like the alpine system, I would like a little more bass. I have 2 JL 13TW5s and zapco amps that I never installed on my last truck. I have been researching and noticed several people have been having trouble adding a sub. Has anyone figured it out? I would like to use my equipment since it's just sitting around. My understanding is a LOC is not needed. Can anyone who has done it successfully show me a write up guide me? Much appreciated thank you!

You would have to summon a full range signal from the alpine amp with a DSP. So far thats about the only way and basically once you spend the money on that you might as well gut the rest of the system.

I agree with Etroze86. Unfortunately there is not a 'good' option that I know of to get a good input for an aftermarket amp/sub setup with the Alpine setup.

I'm living through this myself... I tapped the wires feeding the factory sub for my aftermarket sub amp. Sounds pretty good at lower/medium volumes. Cranking it up, it tends to get muddy and certain frequencies get boosted more than others. Still better than the factory sub though... Just not quite as good as I want it to be.

As Etroze said... Its a slippery slope once you start messing with the audio in these trucks. I have to convince myself almost daily that I do not need to gut the complete system and start fresh.

What's a DSP?
DSP - digital signal processor. Takes the input from several speakers and sums them into a single flat output for amps. Try googling JBL MS-8.

So a dsp like a Alpine PXA-H800 Digital sound processor will be the answer to all this madness?

Anyone have pics of JL 13tw5s mounted in a rcsb?

The Alpine unit should work but there are others too... You want to be able to have as many inputs as possible...

I don't know many people using the 13tw5 as they are really really expensive .

Think I'm going to go with the JL audio Cleansweep or Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty.3 Programmable 8-channel digital signal processor and pull signal from head unit. Been researching a lot on this. I already have the 2 JL TW5s so I am going to put them to good use. If they over power the Highs and mids I will run the Hertz HSK 165s I also have.

Cleansweep is a glorified LOC honestly if you are thinking about the 3sixty3.3 get it as it is a thousand more times powerful than the cleansweep.
