PCM I guess I kinda throw them both around loosely. I someone on this forum or the other forum picked one up for like 200 bucks and change. Might not be a bad next option unless something definitive comes up.

I am pretty sure you can snag one for $200 or so but then you also have to have it flashed to your vin at the dealer right? and who knows what the upcharge on that would be. RedtruckVA should chime in here, I think he was the one going through the process of getting a new PCM

I emailed SoloPCM for some prices and they did not respond. So I am on hold until I return. Welcome to Solo Automotive Electronics
Because your engine ran for four minutes or so I would physically touch all the wires near the headers and varify they are not damaged. I would read a spark plug to see what condition it is seeing, rich/lean. Check my fuses to insure fuel pump is operating. Make sure there is gas in the tank. Check the fuel line for kinks/ damage. I don't think there is a problem with the install, I think it is something not plugged in or wiring damage. Look at the crank sensor / connector. Look for hidden damage. Be patient and go over everything bit by bit. Good luck...

Thinking out loud here.
The wrench when it shorted to the header had to use the engine ground back to the chassis and then to the battery. Maybe check those ground wires to ensure that everything is still properly grounded. One or all the grounds maybe shot because of the exccessive current that was run through them. Remove them and make sure they are still good.

When you go to check all the ground climb up into the bay and run your hands behind the heads. There is a ground each there also.

Is it really a good idea to just start replacing parts, when we dont even know if it's the problem? In the Aircraft Maintenance world, we call that "Shotgun Maintenance", and it never works out lol. Maybe a shop, or some outside assistance would be warranted, before you start shelling out $$$ for possible good parts. Just my opinion.

i agree completely. he should only have to buy one thing -- the thing thats broken. a PCM is a pretty big investment (considering), especially if its not even gonna fix it.

Up until now all he's really lost is time and patience (and a few bucks for exhaust pipe)

I agree, since a PCM is going to be around $275. I still think this is going to be something simple.

I still strongly believe he should finish his exhaust, it has to be done regardless and will rule that out if it's the problem. I don't mean TQ tubes but actually finish the exhaust completely.
