AlfaOBD & CANBUS Adapters

On a 2019 RAM 1500 Classic with Quad Headlights, if I install something like the Headlight Revolution H11 Bulbs in the low beams, must I also install their CANBUS Adapter if I use AlfaOBD to set the front headlights to LED?

I've asked this question on the HR Site, but have not gotten an answer.

It may not be the HR V.4s that I install, but the answer is probably generic for LEDs that have a separate CANBUS Module (as opposed to the CANBUS compatibility being built "into" the Bulb.

Just looked these up. They are cool but a little pricey. In the description it says that they have a canbus circuit built in and that they shouldn't need anything else to function properly.

If you set hid to enabled ( that actually disables pwm) and low's to led you won't need canbus adapters.

If you go to supernova led's website, not headlight revolution site, you can get them for about $90-$100. But a bunch of use have a feeling that a brand called katana may actually produce the v4's and you can get them on Amazon for $40. I have them and a bunch others are running them. From pic's off of hr and supernovas site compared to the katanas they appear identical.

Did a lot of reading and googling, and see that the reviews for the Katana on Amazon are not that great.

Two major complaints are that the mounting tabs are too thick, although that could be changed by filing some material off the tab's thickness. But the second complaint is the short lifespan/early failure.

I could not find any information regarding longevity on the Supernova's.

I'd appreciate any input from forum members regarding their experience with either the Katana or the Supernova.

To expand a little more on your thought, does the use of a "CANBUS Adapter" keep the canbus functionality in notifying you that the bulb is out or does it just bypass it, which I believe is what alphaobd does?

Yes, there will still be monitoring. There’s nothing that can be done that will stop the actual bulb out detection (for forward facing lights, anyway).
