Yeah, Alexey and I have been working together, though he’s doing the hard work! Most of the fixes were for the 2012 rams back to 2009? Maybe even earlier. We found some mis match take take with the drive train control module and fixed the CCN connectivity. He’s amazing with this program!

I don't have access to the first post anymore so I can't do anything with it. I have inquired a couple times about regaining edit permissions though. I suppose I could add the reboot procedure to the notes in the Alfa folder.

I've conversed with Alexey a few times on different issues in the program and yes, he is always a delight to work with. Super friendly and eager to get our input, patch issues and put out updates.

As of this afternoon, I have fully recovered from the mess I made this past Saturday! No codes, messages or "strange noises".


Stay away from the vehicle brand and vehicle line settings. Unless you really enjoy the Alfa tool and like spending roughly 48 hours in and out of your settings trying to revert the changes it makes by messing with them. In that case, go right ahead! Lol It was not as simple as reverting back to the previous vehicle brand (RAM) and vehicle line (DS Ram 1500). By changing the brand and line it also disabled and enabled quite a few other settings that I had to trace by comparing previous configs.

So you're saying if I want my RAM 1500 to turn into a Ghibli I actually have to go out and BUY a Ghibli?

Time for me to ask for help. I finished up my single zone atc install. In engineering mode, I noticed that inside temp was matching outside temp so I made a stupid change.... I changed ambient temp sensor present to yes. Huge mistake. My original configuration had this set to undefined. I'm in a 2016 ram 2500 with tow mirrors that contain my outside thermometer. No matter what I change now, my outside temp reads 185° in the evic, and -- in the radio. Atc won't function at all, so I changed back to mtc for now. What a mess. Any help would be appreciated!

Question on logs. Will it over write the previous one in there or just add another log file. In other words do you need to pull the log from the device every time you save that particular config?

Each new log is added to the same file at the end of the old log

I have considered enabling that several times myself since we now have the ambient temp sensor after the upgrade. If I'm not mistaken I believe there is also a setting for the ambient temp sensor location. I figured better off to leave it alone since it seems to work the way its its currently configured. Set everything back as it was before. Have matching config files. Still no dice. I definitely recommend not touching that setting. It's a great way to take a happy productive day and crush it completely. Guess I'm S.O.L.

Remember if you can't figure out what happened you can always take it to the dealer and have it reflashed and start over.

@justinkyleo Don't get too discouraged yet! So you have looked at your first config you pulled when connecting to Alfa and the most recent one from yesterday or whenever you made the change? If you have and went line by line comparing, then you had to of missed something. Trust me, it is extremely easy to do. I still have double vision looking through mine from the past couple days.

You could also try pulling the positive and negative battery cables off and letting the truck sit for more than 20 minutes. Then reconnect and let everything come back.

I installed my bed lights a few days ago and they work GREAT! Granted, I have a 2017 2500 and the factory wiring was already there - it only took about 5 minutes to install.

I've almost bought this kit about a half a dozen times lol. Unfortunately I don't have the pre-existing harness so would either have to run the wire forward and tap into the cargo light wire, or possibly just use the trailer wire harness option. I also would prefer to have a switch in the bed like the 2019's do. I considered buying the 2019 kit but wasn't sure if there were any wiring/harness differences to worry about and it also looks like the lamps size might be different as well, so not sure if the holes are the same in the 2019 vs older. I guess I could stop by the deal and look at a 2019 bed.

I believe most have found that using 60" LED strips on each side of the bed will provide better lighting, but I like the factory look of the mopar kit in the bed to be honest, even if it does have less light.

EDIT - now that I actually looked a bit closer an the lights and holes are completely different on the 2019. So for previous years you either have to use the cargo lamp button as designed, or wire in a switch on your own if you want one in the bed. There is a thread on this mod somewhere also.

Oh and my SmartBeam Mirror lower cover came in, so no more hanging wires! .

Now just waiting on my power fold Mirrors and confirmation from Benny on the Window Switch for my 2016.

Well, everything worked itself out. Apparently, my change logged a fault in the ecm too. A few miles of driving popped a CEL. Clearing that with my edge immediately showed the correct outside temp. Thanks for the quick response @Ghost_RAM , and @Ricks Ram .

You should be able to do the factory switch in the bed because 2018’s have it.

I'm thinking of adding power and a switch to it, or maybe a magnetic switch. It would be nice to automatically turn on the lights when I open the tailgate. My big thing though is NO DRILLING!!!

I was really surprised at how bright these lights are. Now I can see issues if there is something blocking the light, but I think these will do me just fine.

Possibly useful info for factory cargo lighting... The cargo lamp switch is momentary connecting pin 6 (cargo lamp switch signal) to pin 3 (headlamp switch mux return.) They'll also cut on by momentarily grounding pin 6, but Idk how bad that is for the circuit inside the bcm. Either way, it's not too hard to pull two small gauge wires back to the bed and place a redundant waterproof switch to turn them on and off from back there.
