No you don't have to keep it plugged in. The drl's should work almost instantly. For the setting to show up in the radio may take up to 24 hour's. Mine showed up within 10 minutes.

I have the 4 or 5 inch uconnect. Not sure if it will show for me. Not a deal breaker though. I’m just happy they aren’t the reduced power low beams anymore. That was horrible looking.

There have been people who have activated the DRL's with the 5.0 RA2 radio and had the options show up in the settings menu. Give it some time it may show up under your lights settings as long as you enabled it in the cust-set menu.

One more question, my wife drives a 2010 Chrysler T&C. Can I use this app and adapter to see if I can turn her DRLs on using a similar process to what I just did? Or would that mess with anything I have done on the tablet for my truck? How many compatible vehicles can I use this on? Thank you again!!!

Not sure what it can turn on in the 2010 Chrysler but you can check and see what it shows. You can use the tool on as many different vehicles as you want. It does not lock to any certain one.x

My father has a 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 and I would like to be able to use the Alpha OBD app to enable DRL on his truck but do not want to pull off his dash bezel or remove his radio. Does anyone make a bypass cable that will just plug in to the OBD port without having to remove anything and when done just remove the cable? He doesn't like messing with things unless it needs fixed so I don't want to remove anything. I also don't want to leave any foot print. I voided my warranty with deletes but he's keeping his.

@M2Mods makes a bypass harness. I'm not a 100% sure but you might not need it just to add drl's

You would need the bypass cable to make any changes to the BCM. I just got one because I do so many trucks. I haven't used it yet but from what I am seeing it looks extremely simple to install.

I used the @M2Mods cable on my 18 1500. You do not have to remove anything. You do have to get your hand up under the steering wheel to plug the two connecters into the distribution block located under there. You can then just plug the obd connector into the existing port and obd adapter into the harness port. I just unplug the harness from the obd port, and push it up into the dash, when I am not using it. The instructions have you unmount the existing port, but it isn't necessary.

You will need it to make any config changes.

I thought so but I thought I had seen a few people say that they didn't need one on their 18's to do some changes, only for the rf hub.

It's easy to install. The white end that goes into the green connector is a little pain to get into

Yeah I was looking under there and it's definitely a little tight! I am going to try it on my buddies 2019 Bighorn Clsssic this weekend. Not gonna lie I'm a little nervous since it's a 2019. Not sure if anyone has done one yet.

Not sure if anyone has. At least haven't seen any reports yet.

IIRC you do need a bypass cable to do AlfaOBD changes on a 2018 due to the security module FCA added in 2018. 1500 models use one style cable and 2500 & 3500 use a different cable.

We will see. I definitely don't want to mess up his brand new truck. I am going to leave it up to him.

You do need the bypass to make the DRL changes on 2018's and 2019 Classics. It's the only way to access the BCM due to the 2018+ security module FCA added.

Have you seen anyone post that they had made changes on a 19 yet? I haven't but I'm hoping someone has already done it.

I'm pretty sure on cummins forum I had seen a couple say that they didn't. I'm skimming through to see if I find it or if I'm confusing it with something else. I never tried on my 18 to see if anything worked or not before installing the bypass

FCA uses pretty much the same data bus in most of the American vehicles they sell. The differences are more location and connector related. If it plugs in to the data bus, the OBD connection is an industry standard. Not really that complex TBH.

I tried to enable DRL without the bypass, it didn't work. It acted like it would but couldn't actually write anything to the BCM.
