upgraded 2013 ram 1500 to 7'' evic from 2014. followed big daddys house instructions. Got miles to work cant change engine or idle times. after reboot pannel flickers alfaobd says complete no changes. Using android Pixel 3xl alfaobd 2.1.9.2 with obdlink mx+. Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

sorry 2x click.....

I just had a very similar issue doing a VGT calibration for a buddy. Alfa said the procedure was complete but it never did anything. Only thing that worked for me was to unhook the batteries for a few minutes then try the procedure again.

You could also try the key in the acc and in run positions to see if there is any difference.

Unfortunately, you just are going to have to mess with it for now. Good news is that updates are pretty frequent so it might be an issue that is corrected eventually.

Edit: just remembered I also did this when having that issue, might help for you too.

Go to the alfa main page and go to the settings gear in the middle top of the page. Then scroll down to interface timeout and increase it to the max number 1000ms.
I too had to switch to the "first click" of the key to get hours to change (as opposed to run).

It works great, costs $15 for the "tokens" to use it. I downloaded and had it in a couple minutes. Already programmed 2 keyfobs with AlfaOBD using my pin number.

I've told @big daddys house that he needs to market this..LOL!!
I'm just gonna throw this into the mix. I know a lot of people have had to wait a day and some ignition cycles for settings to change and take effect.
However. I change everything I want in 1 sitting. I have it pretty dialed in as to what and where to get my personal preferences for adding trailer tow mirrors, setting target voltage for the HIDs i run with no resistors or error cancellors, LEDs everywhere on the rear, setting the ASCM to act like a rebel w/ only ENTRY/EXIT, NORMAL (OFF ROAD 1) AND OFF ROAD (OFF ROAD 2) as the ride heights. I literally did all of that, some 20+ changes and clearing errors when after each setting change that says it needs it, without even turning the ignition off 1 time. I literally just did it to a 2017 Limited. EVERY setting worked perfect by the time I made it back from the toilet.

I wonder, I could be way off base, if it takes so long for some peoples changes because they missed an enable/disable or a Yes/No on a minute little detail and the computer is working out the logic of what was input for it to function correctly?

Your special packages options seem to play a pivotal role in any of the features that are being tinkered with.
Ex. I have to set special packages #2 To Rebel/Limited black to get the proper ASCM functionality. And available options.

Instead of actually getting out of the truck, next time go back to the system status screen, refresh it, push clear codes, and continue. Dont roll the dice on that if you are new to alpha BTW. I have grenaded my computer before in my 2013. 2013, 2015, and new 2017 have all survived me and my alfa app with only the 1 factory reset lol

I too do everything in one go now. I also only wait for the truck to "turn off" before checking things. My process for turn off is:

1. Remove key
2. Open door
3. Close door
4. Wait for dash gauge needles to go dark and settle.

After this I turn on again (usually less than a minute) and check things. If it takes a long time for the gauges to go dark it's because AlfaOBD is still connected to your vehicle And keeping it "awake". Disconnect and/or remove the OBD adapter and they will go off.

If the aforementioned doesn't work for you go with the safer 5 minute rule. If that doesn't work go with the several key/power cycles rule. If that doesn't work check in a couple of hours. If finally it's not working the next day it's probably time to ask for help/ideas.

There is another splash screen option list. It actually says splash screen type: vehicle model, mopar/alpine, beats, shaker, etc. With be displayed on the 8.4 screen whereas the "limitedc will be on your 7" display by selecting vehicle package #1

I’m not familiar with those options. I would be interested if someone knows how to change the 8.4

I have to agree. All the changes I have made to my truck have happened immediately, I've never had to wait hours or days. I simply shut the ignition off, wait for the truck to "go to sleep" then turn it back on and it works.

I've only had to wait for options that were set in the body module but actually displayed on the radio screen. I had to wait awhile for the DRL options to appear in the radio.

This. The only settings that take a little bit are ones that have to do with the radio (CSMs, backup camera, travel link, etc). All other actual BCM changes should be immediate, and will actually be “live”, or functional in session (no need to even power down). In fact, all BCM changes can be made in one shot without the ignition on, and even without getting into the truck if you have enough Bluetooth range.

Well, this is gonna take a bit of explaining. I dont want to scroll threw all the settings so be careful. The ASCM is how I learned all my Alfa settings so in depth, after I tanked the BCM. It suddenly was 3 model years newer and manufactured in Brazil. And, it thought it was a 4 door hatchback.

That being said. Ill post a giant photo bomb that is: what I did with my 2015 sport and 2017 limited. From the school of hard knocks, this is every alfa setting I currently use for:
HID low beams
Halogen High beams
LED Fog lights
Daytime Running Lights(the cheaters way)
ALL Rear lights are LED
NO resistors or error cancellors or relays or wiring harnesses. Your halogens pull more than HIDs and LEDs. No need for harnesses.
Aftermarket tow mirrows (power folding added)
REBEL ride heights with aero mode(normal ride height becomes what would be off road 1)
And how I Calibrate my ride height before the alignment (you are essentially giving your truck a baby lift. Save $ on gas and tires and get it aligned)

AIR RIDE- like a rebel-

Ride like a rebel cont.
Make sure you are in customer mode. This is important to setting the ASCM later. If you need to cycle just go back to the connected to BCM screen and check current status, or the short cut is hit run/enable/yes twice to force it in lol

Don't forget to make sure transport mode is still available for you to turn on and off its tucked in with trailer options. All these are settings you can turn on and off via your 8.4 if you have them enabled. Even if you don't have the module, like auto power folding mirrors, the option will appear on your screen in safety and assistance for example. So enable all suspension options

I forgot to mention that the 2nd vehicle configuration special package has to be a rebel/trx/off road (possibly power wagon) and off road pages and capability turned on. Dont jump straight into it yet I have to take a hard pause to do something. Will upload the rest when I get home

Getting interrupted sucks, ive got a lot of screen shots to comb through. I want to say air ride in the bcm is done if you've checked all these screens. The cust.prog.features are best to just double check on the way out to make sure all the suspension touchscreen options are still set before you finish.. a safety check, to be sure everything went according to plan. You can actually clear any codes, then double check the cust.prog.feat. this and check codes again while backing out before disconnecting from the BCM. If you get a code, something is wrong. Double back and clear the fault before the next module

So check and clear codes and disconnect from bcm and off to the ASCM

I have no idea how a DT package works with my 2017 limited but it puts "limited) on my evic at start and (ram, serious xm on splash screen)
