So Monday I went to the local dodge dealership to order a 3500 single rear wheel long bed with the gas engine. While I was waiting they tried to build it but could only do so with the diesel. The salesman thought it was a computer issue and they would do it when not having the glitch. End of the day yesterday he texted me that there was no “allotment” for the 6.4 at the moment and they were waiting for it to open up.

So my question is whether this allotment thing is across the board or dealer specific. In other words could I try another dealer and they be able to order it?

I would try another dealer anyway. Good to have competing quotes.

Most likely a supply issue with the 6.4, they probably have all the expected available 6.4 engines already accounted for in production for the next several months. You could try another dealer but may hear the same.

Mark Dodge was able to order it. Presumably because they are a high volume dealer.

Good to hear you got it ordered. I'd imagine a higher volume dealer has more pull with vehicle orders

This time of year, ordering can be difficult for a buyer

It is possible that sometime within the next 3 or 4 weeks, Ram might Open the ORDER BANK for placing orders for the 2023 5th Gen Rams.

The 2023 4th Gen Rams may hold off a month or 3, before they open the ordering banks for them

It may not be long before they shut down the 2022 5th Gen Ram ordering

I would make a wild guess & guess the first 2023 5th Gen Rams will at some dealerships by September 30th
In time for the Texas State Fair
