I started several treads on here debating leveling vs lifting my 2020 2WD Ram Classic 1500

I LOVED the look of the Maxtrac 4.5" spindle lifts but couldn't overcome the height for my wife to be able to get into the truck, until I just found the AMP Research running boards

Does anyone have these ? They look like they drop down enough so getting in and out of the truck is allot easier

This was a deal breaker for me, and keeping me from lifting my truck because of ease of access in and out of the truck.

Can anyone post a pic of them in the out position so I can see the ground clearance to the running boards?

I'm so excited, instead of just leveling my truck, I maybe able to go with the Maxtrac 4.5" spindle lift and get 35's now !

Get the RBP Stealth Power Running Boards instead ... AMP steps have fitment issues and only have 1 motor instead of 2 like RBP has and have a 5 year warranty but so does AMP ...

Only thing I like about AMP steps is that you can keep them extended when you are parked to help prevent idiots from hitting the side of your truck when they open their doors ... I haven't figure out how to do it with the RBPs ...

Either way you can't go wrong with either one .... you will like either of them

amp steps drop down plenty far and they also have extensions if you want them to drop even farther. I have a 6” lift on my truck and more so got the steps for kids. They pay for themselves every single time you open the door

Thanks for the feedback
Getting them will be a life saver
This made the difference from me just being leveled with 33's to a lift with 35's

If you go for the Amp's, spend the extra $100 and get the plug and play. I thought I ordered plug and play but I didn't, and it took longer to do the wiring than the install. Not complicated wiring, just very tough to get too and make the connections.

Thanks for the tips, I ordered the AMP Running boards, and got the $100 rebate and also plug and play, thanks for mentioning that. Seems it plugs right into the OB2 plug , and strap the controller , much easier install.

After the 4.5" lift is installed, I'll see how far down they extend, for some reason I feel I need to add the 2" extension, I'll buy that as well. Thanks for bringing that up as well.

Now it's time to get the Maxtrac 4.5" lift kit ordered and some wheels and tires, these steps were a life saver, now I can order what I want and not have to worry about the wife getting in :)

Don’t kid yourself, once it’s lifted, at 53 years old, you’ll appreciate those steps as well .... Lol

I think you will be very happy with your decision. I am currently lifted about 5" up front and 4" in the rear and my 5ft 2in pregnant wife REALLY appreciates the AMP running boards. The only issue I have had so far is the plug on one of the motors worked itself loose on a long road trip and stopped working until I pulled it off, cleaned it, and plugged it back in.

My wife hated tube steps, so was an easy sell on the powered.

You will LOVE the Maxtrac lift.

Thanks guys I appreciate the help

The lift is ordered, the shop is charging $500 for the install with the Carrying bearing, I have a 2PC DRIVE SHAFT, And alignment, I was going to do it, but at that price with the alignment There going to install it.

Only thing he mentioned, when picking out wheels and tires, he mentioned I couldn't go 20x10 rim with a 35"x12.5" tire because Maxtrac on their site say's to use 8.5" to 9" wide rims I believe. He mentioned a 11.8" wide tire metric on a 20x10" rim, or drop the rim width to 9" and he said the 12.5" wide tire will clear the spindles, I'm going to call Maxtrac to see what's up before I order the rims and tires

I was even thinking of a 22x12" rim, but I guess that defiantly isn't going to fit

Both my 2015 and 2019 Classic were 20x10 wheels, with 35x12.50x20...

I know for a fact you can fit a 22x12 with 35s on that 4.5" lift .... you might rub a bit on the air damn below the front bumper but you can easily trim that with no problems ...

A 20x12 with 35s will look a lot better though but that is just my opinion ... but don't be scared to get the 22x12s they "will" fit

Good choice with the AMP running boards. I have them on my 2500 with a 5 inch lift and 35’s. My wife can easily stand on them to strap our 8 month old in the car seat with no issues.

Update on the Amp Running boards

The height was 15" from the ground to the top of running boards before the 2" extensions

Well the 2" extensions dont fit the model numbers of my running boards

So I figured out why.

The extensions have the middle part higher and slotted on the ends

I had to grind down the middle part on all 4 extensions but it worked !

Now to the top of the running boards is 13" , same as stock height before the lift and tires !

Here's some pics 20210109_184029.jpg 20210109_184048.jpg 20210109_115142.jpg 20210109_114956.jpg 20210109_125613.jpg
