It will be back after about 24 hours. Lots of featurea take quite a while to reload after battery is disconnected.

Yep just found the answer on u tube..hold the two radio buttons for 10 sec..voila..camera indicator is back..yeah!
Is that how to disable it also? I've tried every way I can think of to turn off, disable, or bypass that camera because it's irritating and the only answer I found is to unplug it at the tailgate. But I can't do that or it will disable my tailgate lock also.

If you just want to unplug the camera, so all you get is a blue screen when in reverse, simply disconnect the white connector at the tailgate plate (circled in red below). This will still allow the tailgate release switch and latches to work.

If you want to remove the backup camera feature as if it never existed, and there is no reaction on the radio screen when the truck is put into reverse, then you’ll use AlfaOBD to disable the backup camera feature.

Thanks, I'll try the connector thing. And yes, I would like to disable the screen coming on too, but every place I've looked - here, YouTube, etc. - says it can't be done even with the AlfaOBD. But, I have a piece of electrician's tape over the lens now and all I get is a black screen so I guess that's good enough. It's a shame, though, that RAM (and other manufacturers) seem to think everyone wants these nanny features that can't be disabled. The camera thing is a federal mandate that they have to install it, but there is no mandate that says we have to use it. It's the same with the horn honking thing when I get out and close the door with the fob in my pocket. It's irritating, I don't want it, but there is no way to disable it.

Don’t know what else to tell you. You have to be smarter than the technology that you’re “forced” to use. In this case, simply defeat the technology with technology, which would be AlfaOBD in this case (and yes, AlfaOBD CAN disable it). It is very simple to use.

Is that an HD thing? There's no horn honk when I get out of the truck with the fob in my pocket on our 2020 1500 Limited.
