I am almost certain that that post is wrong. mantz built the Gen X as the final hifonics run. They went to another buildhouse after that. You could always pop the cover off. I would love to be wrong.

You can also find some humor stamped on the boards of Zed built amps like this. Stephen has a pretty good sense of humor. I have spoken to him quite a few times.

Honestly after all the front row concert tickets from the 80's I can't hear a difference with the tubes. sad it is. That's why I use the ESX. raw brute power and they sound great to me. I think since the 80's I have owned at least 40 Zed built amps. the ESX are my favorite by a long shot.

I ran an esx 120.4 in my last car. Absolute tank of an amp. Felt like it weighed 30lbs.

That was before I knew anything about anything and I won't talk about the waste of potential on how it was used in that install. Pretty sad actually. Wound up selling it on Diyma bc of some issues it was having.... Known by the buyer of course

Bench tests on the 120.4 vary from 150 to 165 watts per channel. keep in mind that they have a regulated power supply. They don't make any extra power with extra voltage like a lot of amps. To the contrary they don't even need 14 volts like a lot of amps are rated these days. They make rated and well beyond with only 11 volts. this holds true with almost all the OS Zed built amps.

mantz has been quoted a million times I'm sure on the net about his opinion of the ESX Q line. They were way too advanced for their time and possibly even today. When he wrote that he was absolutely right. Today....not so right but I think and I know a lot of other companies and designers have copied his designs because he has always been way ahead of the curve.

The guy is brilliant and a great guy to talk to. You would have a blast trying to understand that south African accent of his.You can easily get lost in the knowledge he has in his head though.

Etroze86 is right.

Got the subs and some other goodies in, but no updates. I will do a temp install of the amp and crossovers before Friday.
