Had some scrap 1/0 laying around from previous projects so did the big 3 upgrade last night in preparation for installing the AC D6.1200.

All lugs were soldered on to the cables.

The third is a bit hard to see but I ran the ground from the alternator bolt down to the drivers side strut tower bolt.

I'm 1/3 of the way there. I started and only did one ground. Thanks for the reminder!

Thank you.

If you're referring to the fuse on the blue wire that currently runs to a 500w monoblock. It is all getting pulled out this weekend and replaced 1/0 so I can add the 1200w 6 channel to it.

Looks like a clean install. Good job. Just curious i see alot of other owners mention this but what exactly is the purpose? Always looking to improve my truck so if its something worth while then im in.

Thank you - the big three is usually done when you have high draws on the factory charging system ( ie big amplifiers, lots of high draw lighting, winch, etc.. ). The OEM wiring isn't really up for all this so this allows the stock alternator to run at peak performance.

I'll end up adding a fuse to the charging wire for good measure once I determine where the fuse holders I have will go. Not everyone does this but I think it's good practice personally.

It's good clean install. I hope to see follow up install pics for the 6 channel.

My truck was bought at a bad time in life and had to be done under tight "no accessories " rules lol but man my tradesman audio volume is sad. Dads 03 Silverado with the Bose is more fulfilling. I am beginning to do a build list for a stereo. It's gonna have to happen someday.

Thank you, I will certainly post pics of the install when completed - what equipment do you have your eyes on?

So whipped up a bracket for the fuse holders. Proto worked fairly well but I've decided to offset the platform further toward the cab of the truck to give me a little more room at the positive terminal of the battery. Unfortunately I was down to my last little bit of the ABS roll of filament I have for my 3D printer so looks like it will not get remade till late next week. Oh well. not the end of the world I'll just have to move forward without it for now. Here's some pix of the prototype installed and the 2nd version of the 3D model that will end up the final run ( hopefully ).

At the moment I'm looking at some focal 690's. Thinking of going with a high quality set of speakers. Good cable and then think about amps. I've always been biased to JL subs but house and a baby might dampen the die hard fanboy purchase lol. I prefer a 12 but I think a well installed good quality 10 is going to make me happy.

HU wise I'm torn. Huge savings to just do a processor and leave stock HU. But I admit that CarPlay might be nice to have. I imagine I'm a year from an install.

That's awesome man. I have a friend with 3D printer. Will certainly be hoping to use it or basic tools and pieces of abs. I want a super clean professional install

Do the focal 690, they are a awesome upgrade!! I Bought them in Dec 18 for my 17 WhytRam which I had previously installed Kicker speakers and they were a huge upgrade from Kicker, as well as oem! I changed trucks to a 19 classic in Dec 19 and swapped them 2 weeks after purchase.I am running them on the oem head unit and have a 5 channel amp to install as time allows.....GREAT SPEAKERS

Which series are you two referring to? I know very little about focal speakers.

Nothing wrong with taking your time on it just try to have a plan of attack so you don't have to go back remove stuff and replace along the way - that's kinda what's happening to my upgrade but I kinda jumped down a rabbit hole lol

JLs are awesome that's what I'm running here - 2 - 10TW1s ( stealthbox ) - very happy with it. JL can be pricey and are probably not THE best but you're guaranteed a solid product that performs. Nothing worse then getting a sub and then being disappointed with it's output.

Congrats on the kiddo - best part of living for sure! Kids can be a PITA but they're always worth it!

HU is tough call with all the good DSPs out now but Im old school I guess and IMHO you can't reach the heights you want unless you start with a strong foundation and the OEM HUs always seem to lack something somewhere...

Clean installs are alot of work but the payoff is always worth it! Here's some pics of the last install I did.

Excuse my noobness but I do see the holes for the amps cooling? Is it passive cooling or will fans be installed somehow? The doors look awesome!

The amps were mounted on spacers to raise them off the bottom of the false floor. Fans were mounted on both ends and wired to the remote turn on. Two draw through and across the amps, the other end has two of them pushing air out. Can be seen in this photo.

I was happy with the way the doors turned out too. When I first started that project I did not think they were going to turn out as good as they did. I was just hoping to freshen things up. Thank you for the compliments.

Looks good, you do nice work. You can also piggyback or upgrade another hot feed from the battery to the fuse box if you're ambitious.

Thank you.

What are the benefits of this? This is a new one to me.

Fuse box is where pretty well everything electrical in the truck gets it power. If you look at the feed from the battery to the box,it's actually pretty light duty, and it doesn't hurt to upgrade it to. I ran a ****load of grounds on my truck and upped the feed from the alternator to battery and from the battery to the fuse box.But i did it for reasons other then a stereo/amp set-up. Years ago there was a thread on the other Ramforum site about guys upgrading the grounds and hot feed side and gaining a noticable amount in milege.I did the upgrade on my old 13 at the time, and noticed better heater output back then. But the real reason i did it on this truck when it was new ,was i had issues with the tailgate lock not working properly, dealer replaced it under warrenty when the truck was less then a month old, about 2 months later the new lock started doing the same thing. It would go into a stutter mode and would basically stall, not unlocking fully,or after you used the key to unlock it,it wouldn't pull it back to full lock ,it would basically just sit in the middle struttering. After i upgraded everything wiring wise, the tail gate lock has never gave me another issue. I never did notice much in the way of a milege gain, not to say the guys that did the same thing, didn't gain milege, but my truck never showed much gain. The 2 things i did notice on both trucks, were the heater blower motor and the headlights,i swear the heater blower works better, and the headlights are a bit brighter (stock factory projectors with Pia bulbs). Both i attribute to the better grounds, but i also attribute a bit of the improvenment in blower output and lights to the fact i upped the hot feed side to the fuse box and the 1 from the alternator to the battery didn't hurt either. My truck has grounds from the frame to the box at the ass end (tailgate area),i also ran #6 grounds to both fenders/the pcm / frame to engine / frame to battery /engine to battery,it might be overkill, but my truck has been pretty good electrical wise. I fought a throttle body electrical issue, but that was probably more my fault then anything,as my throttle body has probably been on and off a couple dozen times in the last 6 years, and i blame mtself for not being careful with the electrical connector when hooking it back up,and causing myself a pile of head aches last summer, lol
