Do the focal 690, they are a awesome upgrade!! I Bought them in Dec 18 for my 17 WhytRam which I had previously installed Kicker speakers and they were a huge upgrade from Kicker, as well as oem! I changed trucks to a 19 classic in Dec 19 and swapped them 2 weeks after purchase.I am running them on the oem head unit and have a 5 channel amp to install as time allows.....GREAT SPEAKERS

Love positive first hand experience like this. Thanks for chiming in !

I am excited to have strength in the volume knob and I think those speakers with a good amp will be quite nice.

Which series are you two referring to? I know very little about focal speakers.

Nothing wrong with taking your time on it just try to have a plan of attack so you don't have to go back remove stuff and replace along the way - that's kinda what's happening to my upgrade but I kinda jumped down a rabbit hole lol

JLs are awesome that's what I'm running here - 2 - 10TW1s ( stealthbox ) - very happy with it. JL can be pricey and are probably not THE best but you're guaranteed a solid product that performs. Nothing worse then getting a sub and then being disappointed with it's output.

Congrats on the kiddo - best part of living for sure! Kids can be a PITA but they're always worth it!

HU is tough call with all the good DSPs out now but Im old school I guess and IMHO you can't reach the heights you want unless you start with a strong foundation and the OEM HUs always seem to lack something somewhere...

Dang your install is nice. Very clean yet custom. Bet the sound was good.

I hear you on the disappointment. Really don't have room for that. I have never known anyone with those tw series. I had 10w3v3 and then vtnaully the equivalent 12. I have greatly considered a tw for this build.

Haha. Yeah. This baby thing is really new. She really wanted it and I really....wanted to make her happy lol.

Hopefully I didn't miss it but what HU do you run ?

@Wild one thank you for the detailed explanation - this makes good sense - I'm pretty sure I'll have enough 1/0 left over to run a jumper from the bat to the fuse box. I'll be doing this. Appreciate your input!

I've been really happy with the 10TW1s in the stealthbox. No complaints.

I'm running the new Pioneer DMH-WT7600NEX.

Probably missed it but are you running the dual JL 10's with box? What amp did you use for them?

I'm more of a plug and play instead of fabrication on the stereo side of things.

Yes. Im running the dual 10s stealthbox. I'm running them with a Kenwood X502-1. I originally bought the Kenwood for an upgrade I made to the factory sub. It was right for it at 300w @ 4ohms. Worked for these as well since they are wired at a 2ohm load. At 2ohms it pushes 500w. I could probably run a larger amp to them but this is safe bet and once I add in the AC D6.1200 to the 4 doors and 2 dash speakers it should be more than ample sound all around.

I've done both p & p and custom fab - they both have their pros and cons - in this trucks case I hear ya - fiberglassing is something I'm not particularly fond of doing myself so the prefab is nice + you know it was built to their exacting specs so no need to worry about whether it has the right volume.

I'm 1/3 of the way there. I started and only did one ground. Thanks for the reminder!

Lol never heard of the big 3 done in 3rds.. haha! It helps substantially, Ive seen post after post "newer trucks don't need it" but what facts do you have to back that up? The fact is we don't know what condition any factory wiring or joints are in and this does nothing but help electrical current flow, it's that sinple. Nice job.

I do a fair bit of electrical stuff, and it always surprises me to see light gauge wire on stuff like head lights and blower fans, etc, Copper has got expensive, so guess it is a number game. I like the idea of the grounds, A lot of times in the electrical field problems would be traced back to poor grounds on cck boards, so that was the first thing to check.. On old trucks and cars in Canada , **** poor or no lights was poor, rusted grounds 95% of the time . I seen some kid with a Honda one time at a show, there was more wire in his stupid stereo than in my whole shop .Showing my age now.
