Measure the rake you have from the ground through the center of the wheel up to the bottom of your fenders front and rear .

Then decide how much rake you want and set the Bilsteins accordingly...

See post 8 above and go to my link there . All the info you need is there .

I went with the bills at. +2.8" front and installed a 1.5" coil spacer in the rear .

My link in post 8 above also has a link within it to my spacer install .

Hope this helps !!

No, not really. To each his/her own, but you can do this at home too.
I agree I used my spring compressor that I bought for $40 and it works fine. I've installed about four or five sets of these with no issues.

it's just a matter of taking your time, and compressing them evenly so you don't put too much pressure on one side.

Your basic at home spring compressors works just fine. Done a few with them with no issues.
Seeing how many people have set them at 2.1 then decided to go to 2.8 so I really don't think tack welding the upper nut would make for a fun experience. Sometimes you are just better off following the manufactures instructions

Finally got them installed yesterday. Went with 2.8. Installed the Mevotech UCA's, suspension maxx extended sway bar end links as well. Aligned perfectly after the install as well. Rides great!

Now to get some 1" spacers for the rear and be done for a bit, unless I decide to do a lift kit this summer.

Next up, wheels and tires.

I will try to get some tomorrow. Working nights for awhile, so will be tough. I should be able to though.

Do you guys recommend a 1" or 1.5" spacer for the rear?

Depends on how much rake you want to put back into your setup. I went 1" on mine as I don't tow anything that has very much tongue weight. I had my fishing boat hooked up last night and the little bit of sag it created, my rear was still just a touch higher than the front.... perfect.

As promised, here's a picture. I hope it shows the lift properly. Went full 2.8, looking at getting a 1" TGC spacer for the rear now. Might also add the Bil 5100's in rear also, only 65 a piece right now.IMG-1973.JPG

] That looks GREAT !!

To my knowledge the Bilstein 5100s are an adjustable shock for the front strut assy only ...the Bilstein shock for the rear is a diff P/N and not a lifting shock at all .
The Bilstein shock for the rear are great shocks but just a shock ..not a lifting or adjustable one just a great ahock.
The rear end does not have a strut assy like the front , just a coil spring that requires a spacer above it for lift .
You can get different coil springs to provide lift by themselves if you want. But there is absolutely no shock that provides lift for the rear on any Ram .....there are longer shocks for when you install a lift kit , but there is no application for a rear shock that provides lift .
If you installed a shock in the rear that lifted the rear of the truck your coils spring would fall out while driving and take out the windshield of the vehicle behind you .

Shocks do not provide lift for the rear .
Completely different setup as the front has a strut assy aka a shock inside of a coil spring . The rear has a coil spring with the shock mounted near by not within it .

Hope this helps !

I should have explained a little better haha. I will probably get the rear Bils for my truck since Ill be half removing the OEM ones to place the 1" spacers from TGC in on top of the coil springs. Figured as long as I'm that far I might as well replace them.

I know they don't add any lift to the rear by themselves.

They are compatible with a 1" lift in rear though correct? I won't have any bottoming out issues?

Yes Sir the stock length shocks in the rear are compatible with a 1" spacer , I actually still have my OEM shocks in the rear with a 1.5" spacer installed ...no issues .
I do believe 1.5" is as much as you can go though .
