That bolt tightens til it stops...when it does it literally pulls the stem of the ball joint into place...needing a fork to separate,even right after installation.....I'd crank it to the highest setting....ya ain't gonna break it.

Can I just install a shim behind the springs without disabling the slipper clutch? I dont plan to drag race the bike, but I dont want a slipping clutch either.

For anyone who is attempting this I did a video showing what it can take. It should give you a good idea of what to expect in a worst case scenario. Also I HIGHLY recommend torquing everything to the recommended settings and not a bit more. I over tightened my upper ball joint and cracked my steering knuckle as a result and ended up having to replace that.
