Well guys I went and bought an F150 yesterday. A friend of mine bought one a couple months ago and I really liked it. As most of you know I sold my Ram to Vroom last year but stayed on the forum just because of the friends I’ve made here and of course the “Synthetic Oil” thread. I’m not as much of an oil junkie as some guys but I still find myself watching tons of oil related videos and reading about it frequently.

Anyway I drove an Ecoboost 3.5 first and then followed it up with a 5.0 truck. I ended buying a used 2020 XLT Sport with the 3.5 Ecoboost and man it’s a beast with 470 Lb/ft of torque. It’s got 8800 miles on it and I’m looking at what oil I want to run in it.

Congrats. They do make a good looking truck, especially the interior. The power of the EB combined with how light those trucks are now make a recipe for a pretty quick truck too!

I highly recommend a catch can. between it being boosted and the DI, you are going to get a ton of blow by and fuel. You can get oil dilution due to it. I had one on an 3.5 EB and it was crazy how much the can smelled of fuel when I would empty it. Let me know if you are interested in one. UPR makes a really nice one and would be my recommendation.

No I’m gonna sell it. Need some more down payment money for the F-150 when I refinance it at my credit union. Got to get those payments down to a reasonable number.

Actually I bought it from a guy who decided he needed a 4 wheel drive after a very short period of time. He has a place in the mountains where it snows some. Sounds like a legitimate reason to me. He actually bought the exact same truck, one year newer but with 4WD.

Check your oil level. Owned 2019 Ford F-150 5.0 went through 11 quarts of oil between scheduled oil changes had 34000 miles dumped it for 2022 ram 1500 Laramie

Hey that's OK. It's a truck not a wife, you can see other women!! ;-) Enjoy the ride.

Well congrats, keep that oil changed on the EB, those motors work hard, even harder than the 5.4 Triton my wife's truck had. Hope U stick around. Competitive point of view??? :Big Laugh:

ADDED: Wateva U do, not run that semi synthetic Ford 5W20 stuff, I found the Triton would burn some oil. Went full synthetic and it quit dat BS, all IMHO...

Always check carfax on any vehicle you are buying, it will five you the vehicles history, accidents, how many times it's been to the dealer, etc....

Yes it’s an XLT Sport. I actually changed the oil in it today and went with Mobil 1 EP 5W30 that way I actually know what’s in it. As I mentioned earlier it only has 8800 miles on it so this will be the second time it was changed. It’s going to be nice not having to worry about whether I’m going to have cam/lifter problems down the road like my old 2015 Ram. Plan on 4-5K mile oil changes in the future.

It has the 3.5 Ecoboost so no oil consumption problems to worry about. I did test drive a 5.0 truck but it seemed pretty slow compared to the 3.5. It seemed like I had to wind the **** out of it to get the same results.

YEAH, the 5.0 Coyote Motors are a lot slower than the 3.5 EB's. My wife's 5.4 Triton was a quick sucker, give the 3.5 a run for it's money, but it was a 4 X 4 truck so most of the 3.5's had a weight advantage. But, I do not race trucks, why, LOL. Enjoy yer new ride and be safe.
