Is this a normal wear on the brake disc? Hopefully you can see it on the pic. is it a sign that I need new pads or something e29498bcc93d176a76770c1058622cd9.jpg

It looks like your truck sits outside in a damp environment a lot for long periods of time and doesn't get driven enough for the pads to clean off the rust and now they "the rotors" are pitted.

If those are grooves in the disc you gotta stop that 100-0 brake mashing going on. Either that or you're towing heavy loads

That's not normal.
Second what averageguy stated, rotors have rusted and pitted. Brake pads are chewed up

Thanks for the info. That’s true. It’s does not get driven for weeks at a time.
But I’ll get the brakes changed out.

When you replace your brakes, it looks like you will be replacing rotor and pads. Today, we have many choices in pads. Matching the pads and rotors is critical. A quality ceramic pad on a low carbon steel rotor will result in rotor run out and premature rotor wear. One example. Learned this one the expensive way. Just suggesting that you look at choices that would be best for your vehicle and how you use it. Rotors can run from $40 for the soft low carbon china steel to $150 for the severe duty slotted high carbon steel, never turn. The higher end rotors require a softer pad. You replace them more often, but you never need to replace the rotor. If you search brake pads or brake rotors on this forum you will get some good information.

If you replace them I suggest driving it regularly or find some place inside and dry to park or the same thing is going to happen again.
