I’m back. I am still dealing with brake issues and have been told that basically I have to change the rotors etc to get better stopping power. Ram warranty won’t due it because apparently the brakes are to spec for my year...but still doesn’t stop correctly. Any suggestions

Nick have you had other people complain about the breaking power for a 15 ram 2500. I live where a lot of gas companies have been drilling and they have all gotten rid of their dodges for fords due to breaking

I have a 16 tradesman crew cab 4x4 and that has been one of my concerns since new. Stopping power isnt the greatest. I only have put 9k on it so far so throwing out the brakes to upgrade is a bit away for me but I definitely will upgrade when its time to change the brakes.

Yes mine is a 2015 with 17600 miles and still under warranty. I can’t see doing it with no guarantee that it will help. I pull a 8500 pound boat and trailer that when I hit an intersection and have to step on the brakes firmly I roll into the intersection even after my surge brakes on the trailer lock up. My foot goes to the floor

If the dealer says everything is working as designed, then imho, there is a design defect.

I'm up to 48k now and have yet to have any issues with the brakes. Just now I can feel a slight pulsation in the pedal but braking power wise it's fine.

It's tough to know what you are experiencing with only a description of "doesn't stop correctly." I'm at 70K miles on my 2500 and the brakes have been generally good. They are on par with the brakes in my 06 Silverado 2500. From hanging out here for the last 4 years I haven't seen any huge dissatisfaction of braking performance in HD trucks. Can you quantify your problem in some way to make the dealer/Ram understand? I Ram can be difficult and really likes to say, "they all do that."

Interesting, never felt the brakes were an issue. Best thing I can say is I have never really thought about them. The pedal takes some firmness but when towing up to 8000lbs back there I have always felt they stopped fine in combination with my trailer brakes. Have ~35K on it now.....

I have had to unfortunately do a couple of panic stops because of idiots on the road and I felt very confident in the trucks ability to stop in time. It was smooth and the brakes did not feel over matched. They don’t bite like a set of Brembos, but I have no complaints.

We have had a decent amount complain they want more stopping power but you are the 1st I have heard of symptoms to that extent. Many just upgrade the pads, rotors, and lines and are happy.

My 2017 Power Wagon I feel brakes very well unloaded and while not in tow. Honestly I have no complaints with a load. While in tow it could stop better and I will eventually upgrade the brakes to better pads, rotors, and lines thats if I dont do a Big Brake kit upgrade from R1 Concepts!

The dealer went with me on Tuesday and took a 2018 power wagon and it had zero trouble manipulating my boat on a boat ramp versus my truck it would not hold the boat and we just rolled down the hill when my brakes were floored. The gentleman with me was from the dealership and he noticed a difference between the power wagon and my truck and he believes that there is something wrong but it will not be covered under the factory warranty due to the fact that it was the specs size rotors pads calipers for that year. Like I told you in a private message they have change the master cylinder of which only held pressure for 30 miles or so and then seems to of lost the pressure I originally had

If you are doing any heavy hauling or have oversized wheels on your Ram I recommend putting on the rotors and pads made by Power Stop. I put the K2163-36 Z36 Severe Duty Truck and Tow Kit on the front and the K2172 Kit on the back. The difference was incredible!! 20% more stopping power and very smooth stops now. The rotors are drilled and slotted to reduce heat and warpage and the carbon fiber ceramic pads give more bite with out noise or dust. I am so happy I decided to go with the Power Stop installation. Just be very sure to read the instructions for the Pad Bedding Procedure after completing the install. You will not be disappointed.

On a related note I doubt this is a problem for you but I've been noticing a lot of brake dust on my right front wheel the last few months, I just got around to checking it out and turns out the brake caliper was seized. The caliper itself was fine but the pins had frozen. I didn't notice a lack of braking but it definitely wasn't working correctly. 790d1ba87255a8060d91a1fadb473030.jpg066dfa521adbd796c941d902de764cc5.jpgb81c6f6207f39dde94211a8e7c651fd7.jpg

Thank I had all that checked. I got tired of it so I traded it in and got a Ram 1500 crew. Unbelievable difference. I had no trouble what so ever.
