I'm replacing all the brake pads in my 2016 Ram 1500 because they are starting to squeal. I put the new pads in but I can't get the caliper to seat in the groove so I can tighten the lower guide pin. The new pads are exactly the same as the old ones but there is something stopping the caliper from closing all the way.

It will work, just keep trying. Had the same problem, they are a ***** sometimes. Did you put piston back with clamp?

I just use anything that covers piston and use any ol c clamp, pump it and recede piston.

I've done a few brake jobs where I wanted to give up on the alignment, but eventually you figure it out.

Same. The ram calipers on my 2018 were stiffer than I was used to also, had to crank down on the C Clamp a bit more.
