Guys,

I have a 2005 power wagon with the 5.7 hemi in it. It has 188K miles on it and I've always run penzoil platinum in it. For the last year now I have noticed I'm losing about 1 quart of oil per 1000 miles. There is not smell or color to the exhaust so I'm a little confused. I ran a search here to see if folks have had similar issues but didn't find much. Has anyone else had this problem? Any thoughts on how I should troubleshoot this? any other info that would be helpful.

Thanks

First thing i would do is a compression check.

What does the oil look like when you change it?

what does your coolant look like?

With that mileage, i would suspect that the pistons rings & valve seals might be showing their age.

You can check the spark plugs for color & carbon build up, then do a Compression Test & a Leak Down Test

This engine is definitely not a 5.7 l Hemi, but you will get a good idea of how to check out your engine
