Needing to buy new tires for my '11 Big Horn Crew Cab 2wd. I currently have
what came on the truck when I bought it- Goodyear HP.. which are pretty terrible (275/60-20). I live in Nashville, TN. Decent mix of weather.. lots of rain, and usually get snow (and a lot of ice) in the winter, but nothing too overboard. I'm leaning toward a nice highway/all season tire... something like the Michelin LTX M/S2. I want a comfortable ride that's not too loud. However, at the same time, I really like tires that have a little bit of an aggressive look.. something like the Goodyear SilentArmors or BF Goodrich T/A KO2's.

Which direction would you steer me in? Not looking for cheap/value tire. I want something good. Thanks!

Seems like a lot of people like the toyo a/t and r/t. Good reviews on nitto terra's too. That's just hearsay from here, I've always had m/t's.

The bfgoodrich at seem to be getting high reviews around here. One of the only 8 ply tires in stock size and look great too. Can be had for under $1000 online which isn't bad.

I like the Toyo A/T's. I've been running them on 3 different trucks with good results. Great wet tire, good snow traction, good tire life with even wear (cuts down on having to balance all the time unlike some tires), off-road traction is decent. Above all, with all the traction and wear attributes they are pretty darn quiet.

Good luck with your choice.

I put Goodyear Duratracs on my 2013 4wd and they were incredible during the winter. I honestly didn't and still don't notice any additional noise from them either, and I drive a lot of highway. They look awesome too. Only downfall was a little drop in gas mileage but it has been worth it.

I am running the Toyo Open Country AT2's. It was between those and the BFG KO2. I have been very happy with Toyo and reviews on both tires are good.

Don't forget about the Hankook Dynapro ATM tires. They are perfect for the winter and mild off-roading. Had a few sets of those on other vehicles, and about to have a set put on my wife's 2014 Grand Cherokee. I really want to put a set on my 2013 Ram, but the Goodyear HPs on it look new (I think the dealership put on a set after the previous owner traded it in, or the previous owner put another set of factory tires on right before he traded it in).

Ooohh this is a tough one.

I'm currently partial to the Hankook Dynapro AT-M. They are value priced and I will put them up against the Bridgestone Dueler A/T REVO's that I had before--lasted 7 years and about 65 000mi. Great tires (I live in SW Ontario aka the Canadian Rustbelt, and we are also in the southern Ontario snow belt).

When I was working in Northern Ontario (3 hours NE of Thunder Bay), everyone had BF Goodrich T/A KO's. It's a more expensive tire (compared to the Hankook), but it walks through snow like a Sherpa. On ice it was about the same as the Hankook, but snow is where this tire shines. My disclaimer--I've had my Hankook's in 4" of drifting snow without an issue, the KO's were on logging roads

Michelin LTX-2 M/S is what we run on our ambulances 12 months of the year (again, I live in the Southern Ontario snow belt). They are not as aggressive as the Hankook in snow and just ok on the ice. But it gets the job done. The road noise is also less then A/T tires.

Your best bet is to find your tires on tire rack and look at the reviews. You can narrow down the reviews by reading reviews that are similar to your geographical area/ weather. (Aka, some guy running tires in Arizona is going to be different then how I run my tires).

Another suggestion, is go to a couple of local tire shops and see what they say. What's going out the door the most. If a couple of shops are pushing out the same tires, that may actually be your best bet.

Great advice. Thanks!

So I ended up going with the Goodyear All Terrain Adventure w/ Kevlar. It's rated really well on the highway for an All Terrain tire... which is my main concern (I'm more 80% highway, 20% off road). They're getting put on Thursday. The other good thing- my tire guy said if I didn't like them after a month I could swap them out. Kind of a no lose situation really.

I've just returned from a road trip where I have done 20,000kms in 5 months. I'm running the Wranglers which came with the truck. Just 2 days ago I mention to my wife that I wish it was time to swap out those tires because they ride so rough.
My wife Grand Cherokee has the michelins and they last a long time with a great ride. I also live in Southern Ontario and my wife's jeep hasn't had a problem in snow or ice. So when I do buy I think it will be michelins.

its been said before, but i will add that the Toyo Open countries are my favorite tire. the AT2's IMO are the best suv/truck tire unless you like to hit lots of mud. as soon as teh tires on my ram need to be replaced Toyo AT2's will be installed. I ran them year round on my silverado. Never had an issue, including plowing with the truck.

I've heard good things about the Toyo AT2's, which is why I'm getting them. The 65k mile warranty is nice as well

Warranty is awesome. Had a Duratrac get damaged a year and a half after I bought mine. Could not repair. Being 4x4 they replaced all four tires. I paid balancing and tire tax. That is all.
