Granted, but if you ran it with the truck off all the time, you would wear your battery down. The setup in the 183, or 180 for that matter, has a controller which lets you set the temperature where the fan kicks on...been my experience, the fan really doesn't need to be running unless you are in traffic. I ran all the way to Shreveport and back weekend before last, fan never needed to come on til I got to Shreveport and was running around town to find the hotel.
