Cam install

Im in the middle of doing a complete tune up to my new (to me) truck. I just did the hughes engines plenum upgrade kit, and i did plugs, wires, cap, rotor while having the intake off.

I was wondering if anyone has installed a cam with the engine still in the truck?

I still have the radiator out so it would be easy, i would think. But i dont want to remove the heads if possible.

When i built my dayly driver, i pulled the whole engine apart. So i have no experience with trying to keep the bearings and such in place.

The truck was going to be a parts truck because of how rough the body is, but after installing new body panels, i cant see why not have 2 bada** rams?!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should have enough room to swap cams with the rad out. if you do or don't though, go ahead and do a double roller timing set.

How would i go about keeping the valves from falling in to the cylinders? I have to upgrade my springs.

The tool that screws into the spark plug hole or you can stuff rope into the hole

There's a tool to screw into the spark plug hole, then you hook up air to it, that will keep the valves from dropping in while you change your springs.
