We pulled the heads on my sons 5.7 today because it's time to replace the cam and lifters. I thought finding parts would be a reasonably easy task. I replaced my trucks cam about 5 years ago and had no issue finding Melling lifters and Mopar OEM cam. I found a set of Mopar lifters but they do not look like genuine Mopar parts. A set of Mopar lifters are about $900 now. I have been running Mellings lifters and oil pump for 5 years and they have been perfect. Where are ya'll buying your good parts from. Also kinda in a hurry to gather parts as this project need s to be running by
This weekend. These "Mopar" boxes do not look like OEM, more like china knockoffs and $288 for all 16 with 8 MDS lifters?

Did you try your local dealer? I wouldn't touch those lifters as they're way to cheap, and the mopar lifters on amazon/ebay are also another thing that are famous for being knock-offs.You didn't leave much time to get parts,so you might have to suck it up and go to your local dealer, and hope they can get parts in a timely manner.
If he needs it running by the weekend, you might be better off renting a vehicle as an interm vehicle.

He's gonna be towing a camping trailer so a rental is out. I thought those lifters look a little suspect. I'll try the dealer tomorrow but the dealers around here are full list price on everything.

Where are you located? Maybe you’re close enough to a mopar performance shop that has some in stock?

Any one heard of DNJ lifters? Same price as Melling and in stock. Found some Melling lifters for $755 at a local part store. Also found a Melling cam, in stock at same local store for the same price as online.

south Mississippi. Local Mopar dealer parts counters have not been helpful with any purchases that I've tried to make.
I was meaning somewhere more like Moe’s Performance. They’re over in Conroe, Tx. Maybe they could overnight some or you could make the drive.

Only lifters I’ve seen recommended are Johnson’s or OEM “hellcat” lifters

Where are people buying the "hellcat" lifters? The dealer? I know they are supposed to have larger roller bearings to help prevent what? I've been running Mellings lifters and HV oil pump. The Hellcat oil pump has 12% larger vanes and the Mellings HV has 20% larger. My oil pressure at 195* is 68 at 1600 rpm cruise and 44 at idle. Been using Mellings parts for years.

Thanks for the info. Heard of Moes before but cannot find the MDS hellcat lifters.
There is no such thing as Hellcat lifters, all non-mds mopar lifters are the same, have been for many years, and there are no such things as "MDS Hellcat" lifters as the Hellcats "Do Not" utilize MDS.You're looking for something that isn't made, and don't get sucked into paying more for factory non-mds lifters that somebody is calling "Hellcat" lifters.
The only Non-MDS factory 5.7's and 6.4's built in the last 10 years are the ones in the 6 speed manual transmission Challengers, any 5.7 and 6.4 with an automatic transmission after that are MDS engines
You want 8 factory non-mds lifters and 8 factory mds lifters.
Little tidbit my truck with the stock oil pump makes 50/51 psi at it's 750 rpm idle and at 1600/1700 rpm is making 65 psi,so there's no gain by going to the high volumn oil pumps, all your doing is using more horsepower and creating more oil heat with the high volumn pumps in a stock 5.7,the 6.4's with the piston squirters do see some benefits,as the piston squirters are a built-in internal oil leak, but the 5.7's don't have that issue.
Hell even my bone stock 300 with a totally stock oiling system and filter set-up makes 49 psi at it's 750 idle rpm,and makes 72 psi at 5,000 rpm,and cruises down the road at 65 mph/1600 rpm, at 61 psi,at 200/205 oil temp, and it has 2.62 gears in the diff, lol
