can the chrome be removed from grill shell to paint the plastic white? Without sanding, possibly? Like a chemical remover. Also the mirror caps as well. I think they can be sanded smooth and repainted.

why without sanding? A lot of sanding is your best bet unless you want to drop some coin on paintable shell.

supposedly i believe bleach will take it off, but i think you have to let it submerged in it for a while

Just take the shine off with a red scotch pad, prime and paint.

I just thought chemical stripping might be faster that's all. I am not scared of the work, just don't think it'll stick good if I don't take it down to the bare plastic. I have seen people paint chrome wheels but that's on steel etc. Didn't know if the chrome would have to be sanded all the way down. What do y'all think? These grills aren't very expensive from rock auto so I may just go that route.

I drive ALOT and a bunch of those miles are on gravel lease roads. I get tons of bugs because I drive a lot at nights and early morning. That plus the rock chip possibility makes me want something kind of more durable. I'd worry bout the plastidip not withstanding rocks and big bugs etc. Urs looks real good, though

good luck......

I asked my painter about doing up a chromed grill - he said "not doing it". seen too many issues, and he won't even touch it.

get a painted one, or a paint to match one......
