i recently noticed a very small amount of diff fluid near the plug on my 2010
I took plug out to clean it because i think there was abit of dirt that had gotten behind it and a bit of fluid came out... enough to get a shop towel wet ... not a whole lot but anyways... point is am i able to just add fluid or will it be ok to just leave?.. I had just driven it so that might have had something to do with the fluid wanting to come out... colour was fine not milky.. I have a 3.92 LSD and was just abit worried.. will there be signs if it needs fluid or is the fact that it wanted to come out enough to say its fine?

If you can stick your finger in the hole and feel the oil your good. If not you lost more than you know and you can either change it for new or just top it off with a LSD compatible gear oil.

Well I'm assuming since it came out of the hole it couldn't be that much below it if it came out as soon as plug was pulled... truck was also level... if say I did add oil... would it be stupid to add royal purple to what's in there now?? (Dealer re did rear end and fluid when pinion let go) so it's dealer fluid

OK to leave-especially if the fluid was warm.

I agree.
Adding RP would be fine but it's already full.
Waste of RP to add it to another brand. If concerned about it I'd drain and fill with RP. but it's not necessary till the next time your in there or doing a service.
