Carven slanted 5” polished tips installed

I just picked up a new 18 Laramie. I made my own 5” double wall tips bc I was running a dynomax catback and it had 2.5” tail pipes on my 14 express. On this new truck I’m keeping the stock exhaust or tailpipes for that matter. Ordered the new carven polished 5” slanted tips they were on sale for $199 shipped and I found a 15% off so I paid like $183 for them. They come with NEW OE clamps so you don’t even have to remove the old clamps. Took me 15 min to swap both out and they look good. If they give alittle more sound I’d be happy but mostly I just hate the puny stock 4” tips and I’m used to 5” from my other truck. Love how simple they installed and think they are pretty nice. $183 is a lot for tips only but I’m fine with it bc I’ve made tips before and 15 min is like a blink of an eye and they look really good.

Figured some pics is smart as I searched for pics of the 5” Slanted version but didn’t get a lot, not even on the 5” carven thread. So here are the pics for everyone so they can see how they look on a stock exhaust.

Haha look at it this way I went “cheap” before and it was easier bc it was a 2.5” tailpipe and it didn’t have the stock ball socket flange. I spend $50 each for a ebay 304SS double wall slanted tip. So that’s $100 just for the tips which are 4” inlet and 5” OD. Then I needed 2.5 to 4” adapters, then had to cut and weld it all together. Then I needed band clamps which are like $8-$10 each. I prob spend $130 about and that didn’t include all the time, mocking up and welding etc. really the $40 or more for these tips isn’t that bad lol.

I got tips for $50 shipped to me, with 3" inlet, 5 out. I have a buddy that will powder coat black, so I just need the clamps and adapter/extensions. I'll be in for less than $100

Like I said, depends on the tips and the quality. Believe me, not all 304SS is equal. I got some $38 tips, dual wall 304 polished, I heated them to add a blue tint at the tip. In less than 6 months they had cracks at the edge, then rust started. Almost like they were coated SS or something. I picked up some $50 tips and they held up better for like a year before I returned the truck. Depends on how much your time is worth and the end result.

I painted some tips black and hated it. The tips all but dissapeared in the bumper cutouts and that was on a blacked out ram. I went polished and like it much better... food for thought!
