So labor day weekend got my lowered 14 RT out and took a ride over to the local to me drag strip.

Didn't expect much as it's been sitting most of the summer as I've been out and about mostly on the motorcycle, with several side trips to various other USA locations.

Ran my street tires, 22s and thought I'd stay in the low 13s or high 12s. Given I'm supercharged and tuned by FRP..

Well needless to say, one trip to the line, actually one burnout, and this happens.

These are core 4x4 control arms, this is the old tier 3 arms, what I think they call the trail series now. I've got maybe 40k on them. Always greased, and checked for tightness, torqued to 150 ft lbs.

As you can see an approximate 4 k burnout and catastrophic failure of the bushings. This is one arm, both are like this and I blew out a bushing on a johnny joint. Popped a snap ring. Probably from driveline vibration.

So I call core and they sell bushings $21 bucks a pair, an Johnny joint rebuild kits. The tool you need is a must have, if you don't have a press. It's expensive but turns 2 hours into 5 minutes. Well worth the investment.

Live and learn.

The bushings are wear items. I had to pay for them, JJ another issue, they are rebuildable, but the tool, is the expense.

The tool is $150. And ships from Currie Enterprises in CA.

Core 4x4 has a lifetime warranty… if you break it, they replace it. Simple and send them the pics, they’ll send you another set. Spence Schramm was the one I’ve dealt with in the past.

My core arms are at Quick_Shifters shop right now, I had a bad shimmy when letting off the gas or any kind of bump/dip in the road. He checked all the wheel/tire balances, ended up being the front bushing broken on the pass. Side. I got a set of Freedom Off-road to use while he replaces the bushings, I’ll go up later this year & switch the back.

Clayton off road only covers the bushing for the first year.

I wouldn't expect anybody to cover bushings lifetime that's just retarded.

Response from Core 4x4

Unfortunately, the bushings are past the warranty. Wear items, such as bushing Joints, have an 18-month warranty.
