1500 RAM12. Please, please, please post "done!" pics and/ or video. I was hoping someone would go this route. I don't really want to start another project.. Lord knows I have too many unfinished ones laying about... but I definitely don't want to drop $1300 on some look good headlights AND be unhappy (at that point it wouldn't be the price.. I knew what they were when I bought) but rather i'd feel I got WAYYYyyyy less than what I paid for.. and that would irk me to no end. If you can put together something that comes close but works right... i'm ahead of the game and if it is more affordable... all the more better, lol ;)

I'll get some tomorrow. I had some last minute wiring changes. I made everything accessible through the dust covers so it wasn't to hard. Although I ended up 2 connectors short so the finished product won't be ready until roughly Wednesday. But are 98% operational.

I'm in the process also... Mine are 2 tone though. And hid's instead of led's.

I wanted to paint the "shrouds" black but it was damn near impossible to tape them off and have it look good

Edit. Drl shot

In the daylight they seem to have a bluish tint to them. Camera picks it up more than what it is.

Came out nice!

Hopefully I can start mine soon. Debating just taking them apart right OOB vs installing them to make sure they work first.

Thanks. I guess it depends on how much you plan on doing. If you plan on replacing the upper and lower led's with switchbacks then opening them up without testing would be no big deal. You'll be basically re-wiring the headlights anyway. If you are just painting them then I'd toss them in first.

I do plan on replacing the upper and lower strips. Basically want V2 functionality in a V1 body (since I like the clear DRL lenses and chrome buckets to match my truck)

I guess Ill open the box tonight and consider taking a day or two off from work to use the oven while the wife is gone :)

I'd suggest ordering something like this to replace the socket connector used with these lights for the turn/park.

TOMALL Male Socket Connector for Headlights Fog Lights Retrofit Extension Wiring Harness https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KYFB7ND/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_2Jr9CbT6EBYSB

And this

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/4-position-wiring-seal.html

Depending on how you wire them you may need these

(Pack of 20 Pieces) Chanzon 1N5822 Schottky Barrier Rectifier Diodes 3A 40V DO-201AD (DO-27) Axial 5822 IN5822 3 Amp 40 Volt https://www.amazon.com/dp/B079KF9TVR/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_q2r9Cb563DFCR

And to reseal them if you haven't already

https://www.theretrofitsource.com/morimoto-retrorubber-butyl-glue-52001.html

I used a heat gun to heat up the butyl tape to reseal everything up. Faster than sticking it back in the oven

Thanks for the tip!

I have the diodes already, along with a boost/buck converter (per jimmy07 to make sure the marker lights dont get burnt up)

The socket and seals are a good suggestion for sure. Will order those up once I get closer to done.

Hopefully my lights open fairly easily, still the only part of the project I worry about. I can do wiring no problem.

It was weird that one came apart pretty easy and the other was a pain. But all the sealant stayed on the lenses so clean up was easy

I havent even taken them out of the box yet, so maybe it would be obvious if I had, but:

why the suggestion for the turn/park extension harness?

and did you replace the marker lights with LED bulbs?

The pig tail harness I suggested eliminates the 3157 style connector that is used for the turn/park feed. This way the 3157 socket stays connected to your quad headlights and the h13 connector plugs directly into the truck's harness. No I left the side markers out. Didn't feel like messing with them
Once you see the headlights and have your headlights out it'll make sense

Yes it is a PITA! housing is black and shrouds are a dark graphite(looks lighter because of flash) to match my AEV Mesa wheels since everything else is either Black or Deep Blue

I wonder if there is a channel that you could put knifeless tape into, tape off the whole bezel and then just pull the knifeless to cut right around the projector bezel portion only.

Its more time consuming than difficult. Get a second set of cheap quads or duals to put on your truck in the meantime while you work on your build. I started a build thread in the DIY section, but got lazy and never finished it, lol. Here's a few shot of my build

If you can afford it, I would recommend buying aftermarket replicas and opening them up. A LOT easier than dealing with the permaseal and you still have usable headlights as you build your other ones. Besides opening them up, pretty easy process honestly.
