Hello all..i have a 2014 1500 ram 5.7. How can i get all that i can performance wise out of it with out digging into the engine. Is it all down to a chip and programer? I know about intake and exhaust upgrades but not the brain of it. Thanks.

Hello and Welcome. The best thing you can do without digging into your engine for better performance is to get a Diablo Intune DCX or the Trinity. These have pre-set tunes that you can modify slightly or you can get a tuner to make you a custom tune.

Three things that work well together are the best bang for your HEMI.

Intake, exhaust & programmer.

Consider getting a custom tune done for your programmer later. But for now, those ^^^ three things will provide you the best bolt on, plug in mods to extract power from your engine.

I agree with a programmer, but just how restrictive are the intake and exhaust on these trucks?

They certainly don't sound all that restrictive compared to other stock v8 trucks.

^removing the tailgate is for weight reduction. Not really worried about aero drag in the 1/4 mile with a brick of a truck, the weight reduction plays more of a factor. Highway efficiency is a different story

I had a 99 Dakota RCSB 4x4 SLT for 12 years. I was always looking for good mpg #s. I paid close attention. I never could find a measurable mpg difference between tailgate up or down. I always thought what you saved between the cab and tailgate, with the tailgate up, was lost behind the tailgate. In my experience it's a wash. I left the tailgate up simply because if I got rear ended, the bumper would fare a bit better than the down tailgate.

I'd have to guess, the energy saved by not hauling the weight of the tailgate, outweighs the tiny aerodynamic effeciency.

I haven't run this particular truck with the tailgate on yet. I only pulled it for weight reduction, but have since put it back on to help put more weight over the rear tires for traction with the nitrous. This truck launches very hard on motor, and I'm hoping to be able to come off the line with at least a 75 shot. I think I will need that weight over the back tires, so I'm actually in the process of re installing a new bumper and have also put the tailgate back on.

What is the difference between the Diablos and the JET Stage 2 PCMs?

I totally agree with Maddox cold air intake dual exhaust upgrade stock muffler and get a good programmer. Sounds great for yall with 5.7 I have 2014 2500 6.4 still waiting for intake and programmer and dual exhaust is a bit of money. If anyone has updates about the 6.4l gas CAI or bully dog programer post it here for the rest of us. LOL

Skip the Bully Dog. Diablo has been out for almost a year now for the 2014 2500 6.4 trucks. We can also offer custom tuning with the Diablo, so it will outperform the canned Bullydog tunes. Either the InTune DCX or Trinity will work on your truck.

If diablosport had a little bit better customer service it would be awsome. Calling bullydog and diablosport is like night and day, bullydog treated me like my input matters and it was a pleasure to deal with them. Calling diablosport they act like you are waiting their time no matter what your question is. I had one good call to them and it turns out the guy lied to me. If bullydog came out with tpms adjustments I would buy one in a heartbeat. I care about the gains, but I'm a lot more willing to give my money to a company that treats their customers with a little respect. Going on the diablosport forums you can find one horror story after another of issues that they flat out ignore for months. I'm sure they all have their problems, but when a customer litterally waits years for an issue to be fixed (tire size adjustments on wk2 grand cherokee's) there is a serious problem.

I have a 1500 with the 5.7 and the factory dual exhaust. Is it worth dropping the $800+ on a new exhaust or at this point would it just be a change in the sound of the exhaust. Reading some of the exhaust FAQ, it sounds like you can do more harm than good with the wrong exhaust.

If you want power out of the exhaust, then you want to go with a set of 1 3/4" longtube headers. A catback is going to be more for sound and looks with the 5" tips that most come with.

I can understand that, but when it comes to power, there is no comparison. 95% of people buy a tuner because they want more power...Diablo wins in this category without question.

Bullydog has and has had the same type of issues. When they first released the Hemi plus tuner 2-3 years ago, they promised TPMS adjustments, and they also promised being able to deactivate the DRL's for Canadian trucks. Neither of these functions work yet. I had 6 Canadian customers return tuners because the sole purpose for them buying that tuner was so that they could disable the DRL's. Bullydog told those customers for months that they were working on it, and it would be any day...never happened.

Every tuning company is going to have ups and down because it is all electronic computer software. At the end of the day, I want the tuner that is going to get me the best performance I can buy, and Diablo is what delivers that at the moment.
