Check your owner's manual for the correct type of fluid you should be using.

I've seen such problems when the wrong fluid is mixed with the correct fluid.

If that is the problem then you need to get it professionally flushed.

Another possibility is somebody mistook the window washer reservoir and coolant overflow reservoir. They're labeled with little pictures and should be obvious but people make all sorts of mistakes.

Either way flush that stuff!

A 2017 will use OAT coolant. The purple stuff that turns an orangish-rose color over time then back to purple when warm.
If HOAT coolant (orange stuff) gets mixed with OAT, it will form a gel/sludge and plug up the engine and radiator

I go with this.

Even at 50,000 you should NEVER see this.

Somthing is in there that reacted to it. That is it.

I hate to say it but it looks like oil residue to me. I wouldn't continue to drive your vehicle. Take it to the dealer and have them run a pressure test. For your sake I hope I'm wrong. Good luck......

Thank u dexter for ur answer. Thing is its the factory coolant. Ive nvr added coolant, only 15k miles.

When I got my new truck, it was 1/2 gallon short of coolant.

I bought the right type and put it in.

Someone at the dealer may put in the wrong coolant.

Luckily he's still under 3/ 36 warranty so it shouldn't be an issue for him.

Mine looked like that too and I was really worried. I drained some coolant from the radiator with the bottom drain knob to change my oem Tstat for a 180 and decided to drain the entire circuit if it was necessary. I was surprised to see that it was really nice. I just change my Tstat and refill my circuit with the coolant I've drained. Everything works great till now.

Looks like my 18 hemi I had a little residue on the cap I noticed the the coolant reservoir was low and ended putting a half gallon in it now my cap looks good I think it was cooling off and exposing the bottom of the cap because it was draining in to the reservoir

That’s 100% normal with the type of coolant these trucks use. Keep driving it and don’t worry about it.

I was always nervous the engine coolant overflow and washer fluid caps look similar and a mechanic could put washer fluid in the radiator by mistake (same yellow cover, picture, no words). I purchased a gallon of Peak OAT ext life orange to top of my resv one time to the max on the dipstick (past summer, very little, better safe than sorry).
