well I'm going to put a message to FCA on this one because it does drive me insane. Thank God for forums. They cause me to spend more money but it's good stuff.

Do it hammer them it's what I am doing. Got a call back today from a supervisor but I missed it and they are closing early. So he is going to call tomorrow i believe he said so i will keep everyone posted.

So after reading this thread I started to get concerned about my weld drag link. I called my local dealer to get a price on putting the 2019 part on my 2018. I was willing to just pay to have it right. They said it wouldn’t fit as all the components have been redesigned and 2019 are completely different and that’s why they tow more. I basically left the conversation stating that doesn’t sound right. So, will the new 2019 part work on a 2018?

I was willing to just pay to have it right. They said it wouldn’t fit as all the components have been redesigned and 2019 are completely different and that’s why they tow more. I basically left the conversation stating that doesn’t sound right. So, will the new 2019 part work on a 2018?

Yeah redesigned to be safer and to not separate lol. Dont let fca blow smoke up your ass like this isn't a big deal. When mine spun with pretty much hand strength I knew there was a serious problem. That is the first I heard of them not fitting on a 2018. I could be wrong and maybe another member can chime in. But regardless look at the post above with the oem part members are putting on for about a 100 bucks. That cost FCA how much 50 bucks or less ?

I bought my 2017 2500 in April, and so just got the recall notice on my drag link.
I am interested in a non weld fix. I see that a better fix is ordering part # 68338342AB. I also see that you have to order nut (s) # 6505623AA.
I have not looked at the defective drag link, so how many nuts are needed.
Also, are there any other parts needed to complete this fix?

Because those are all the individual parts instead of the whole assembly.

It will 1000% work. I have one on my 18. The only part that changed was the drag link itself.

I just got off the phone with a local dealer service department and that part is extremely hard to get now he said. There is only one warehouse with a 100 plus and they are trying to put holds on them so people cant order them. This all is ridiculous but maybe fca is going to use them as a permanent fix possibly but I doubt it just a hope.

These are the same guys that said the front drive shaft doesn’t need grease on the gasoline 2500 and said a PW can tow 15,000. I’m guessing anyone can get hired there because if I know more about the truck than the service department then that’s bad. I’m no gear head but rather a medical professional so I’m more comfortable if it bleeds! I can do basic mechanical stuff(change oil, diff fluids, bearings, belts, etc) so not sure if I should tackle changing out the part myself but obviously the local Ram shop not an option.

I will do the install on mine tmmrw as long as it's nice and my newborn isn't having any breakdowns...lol I was on a roll today and got my transfercase fluid changed and my locker bypass in. I'll tackle the drag link tmmrw with part# 68338342AB

I just got off the phone again. The new drag link he posted for a 100 something is the updated part that they said will fit my 18. It came up under my vin with that new part number (68338342AB).

I just confirmed with one dealer that under my vin which is a 2018 your part is correct he said but the old parts photo showed the the old one with the two nuts and adjuster sleeve. Also said he could get it for me. Going to order that and two nuts tonight. Let me know how the install goes and the torque specs you are using please. Again I really appreciate your help you made things way easier and a hell of alot cheaper and stress free to hell with FCA lol do it myself.

I’ve got a slightly off topic question. I’ve got a 2019 PW and my steering wheel is slightly off center. I took it to the dealer and they checked the alignment and adjusted it, but now it’s off center the other direction (was the right, now the left). My question is can I make this adjustment my self via the drag link and if so, does it change the alignment if I do?

So this may help people further from what I have learned on here and today. I ordered my part and was assured I could get mine like the other members have. I ordered mine from a dealer online and not the place in this screenshot I will add. Not saying you cant get it from this place the part number is correct. So you will notice in the diagram that it still has the old style with the adjuster sleeve, two nuts but yet the part number is new. Now the bottom it replaces two old part numbers the one highlighted is what is currently on my truck. Next you will see what Maligator posted of his part with the the correct number clamp style. Mopar must not have updated the pics but the part is correct with my vin 2018. Some dealers are saying its impossible to get this unless it goes through a dealer and a STAR claim. Must be the solution to the problem. I say order it obviously members have gotten the FIX TO V06 in the mail.

You can it happened to me when my drag link nut loosened. The drag link is what centers your wheel. Just make sure your wheels are straight before adjusting but honestly you may want an alignment place to do it or look at it. You should see how crooked your wheel becomes if the drag link comes loose jk lol.

Well I wrote a very nice email to Mopar regarding my drag link recall fix and the inability of the servicing dealer to ensure my steering wheel is straight. I basically asked them how to proceed with this issue since I don't feel like driving with my steering wheel cocked to the left forever. Gave them the new part numbers etc. See what happens.

You gotta battle that's for sure. They didn't want to help me out as of right now. I feel like your situation is exactly the reason why they need a fix and not a bandaid. That is why they wont weld mine it takes one problem somewhat away and creates another. I honestly hope you have luck. If I get anywhere or when this part comes in I will post pics or update.

Sounds good. It's the reason I like to buy new vehicles and not used ones, so I have complete control over every decision. Oh well. It'll get sorted out eventually. No big deal.
